TWU Spring 2010

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.

Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?

I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.

If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?

Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!

I know! I've become so accustomed to being worried about our admission decisions, but now it's like wow! haha

Congrats Houston aceptees!!:yeah:

I am going to wait to get my packet before signing and submitting anything- I know now we have to forgo shots, CPR class, and drug screening. Has anyone completed CPR certification. I was thinking about taking it locally through the fire department does anyone know if this is adequate?

I would love to meet everyone for a get-together! Let us know where and when. I am closer to Denton campus or maybe a certain day we could meet on campus!

Is anyone planning on registering this week for classes? I havent been to an open house yet so i am going on thursday but I think i am going to wait and go to that and to get my packet in the mail before i register. Does anyone know what times ya'll are wanting to have class? ALSO, does TWU break the classes into 8 week blocks or anything or will we be taking them all at the same time. I was in a nursing program before and they broke it into 8 weeks so we took 2 the first 8 weeks and the others the last 8 weeks.

My understanding is that they are all semester long, not cut into 8 week chunks. Also we will not be allowed to register this week because only Graduate students can do that, then on the 10th only Seniors and Post-Bac students can register. So unless you are a post-bac student you'll have to wait until some time after that to register. You should still be ok, the classes are almost all at the same time with the exception of the clinical stuff and they are at the same times just different days.

At least that's what I've been able to figure out so far from the class schedule.

Plasma and Childofgrace,

I didn't have the immunization sheet in my weekend packet either. I'll bet it's the same for weekenders and regular program students. Did anyone out there get the immunization sheet and wouldn't mind sharing what's on it???

Thanks!

I got my packet for the weekend program..I am missing the immunization sheet...anyone mind sharing with me the info.

Hey guys,

I found this on the TWU website. Maybe this is what we need for the weekend program?? I emailed the college to find out for sure. I probably won't hear anything until Monday though....

All students in nursing are required to have been immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, chicken pox, tetorifice, diphtheria, hepatitis B and have annual TB skin testing. Proof of immunizations will be required at the time of admission to upper division nursing courses. Texas Woman's University does not require HIV testing of students; however, some clinical agencies with which the College of Nursing affiliates for student clinical experience may require such testing.

From the email about registration,I think they are going to open up the registration for juniors to choose classes on November 16th,They are probably waiting for us to accept or decline first so they can have time to send us our packets.

does anybody know anything about the TWU faculty-led study abroad program for nursing? all i can find on their website is that it exists, you can go to "various countries" and two people to contact. i emailed them both but i was just wondering if anybody knew people who had done this or had any information on it

Does everybody mind sharing their stats for thoose who got accepted or rejected to help the future TWU appplicants in the future TWU forums? I got accepted to the houston campus and I'M 4.0 GPA with no .4 bump and 88 composite Hesi Score

I did not get accepted. I have a 3.7 gpa with a 91 HESI and 888 critical thinking. Also 13 years of health care experience.

Wow Chiro!! So sorry to hear that. You must have been really borderline because I had a 3.811 and 89 Hesi. Are you on the waitlist? Are you going to apply next semester? Seems like you should just retake one class you made a "B" for an "A" and you would get in. Let us know what you will do.

I'm sorry to hear about that Chiro. It is unfortunate that TWU does not take extra consideration for people with health care experience. Like goopsy said, try to retake something you have a B in and I'm sure you'll get in next semester if you decide to apply!

I am retaking two classes this semester and if all goes well I will have a 4.0 next time. I only applied to the weekend program and they do not know at this time if they are going to continue the program. I am going to try to get into the TWU patho class in the spring.
