Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.
Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?
I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.
If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?
Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!
Congratulations goopsy !!
And thank you guys for the warm welcome.
Supersweet, I am a second degree student. I used to be a teacher(French high school and later elementary language arts). My BA is in French literature... So, I pretty much had to start from scratch. But that's ok...Honestly, I am enjoying college so much more this second time around.
Rha_Hea, sorry about your car battery; car problems can be a real pain....I say it's a sign, though. You'd better get yourself some cables .
Thanks everyone. I could not have done it without the support of everyone here, even if this is a TWU thread lol. Thank you.
I don't know what my number 1 choice is; I hope that doesnt sound bad. UTA has the only SMART hospital in the world, but yet TWU has such an excellent reputation and is highly regarded in the community. Honestly, I am not sure if I am going to get into TWU. Both are excellent choices, in my eyes.
I was wondering too what a SMART hospital was so I googled it....It sounds awesome! It would be hard to turn down an opportunity like that!! I'm attaching the description for those of you (like me) who've never heard of it.
The Smart Hospital is a simulated hospital environment complete with state-of-the-science equipment and furnishings. In this facility, nursing students interact with and provide care to a full array of simulated patients who occupy the Emergency Room, ICU, Labor & Delivery (LDRP) suites, pediatric unit, Neonatal ICU, adult medical /surgical beds and the large team training resuscitation room.
The "patients" who populate our Smart Hospital are life-sized computerized manikins that actually interact with the learners. Patients include infants, children, adults, and even a mother in labor who goes through the labor process and delivers a newborn. Some manikins are static but others are interactive and responsive-they can speak and breathe, have heart sounds and lung sounds, and can progress through the various stages of numerous clinical states from birth through death. In addition, we have specially trained actors who can serve as patients or family members in clinical teaching scenes. In each clinical scenario, the students are exposed to situations and changes in patient conditions, both subtle and obvious, that they will experience in actual practice. With repeated exposure to these situations, students develop a deeper understanding of clinical conditions and become more adept at critical and clinical thinking. With this foundation, our students move more quickly from novice to expert and in so doing enhance the quality of patient care they provide.
does anybody know if TWU has a simulation room at the Houston campus? i guess i just assumed they all do. i walked through a&m's a few weeks ago, it's a pretty cool concept
Yes, Houston does. Dallas does as well. I walked through UTA's on Tuesday; it was amazing! They blink and breathe, sweat, vomit. There was one set up like he just went through a car accident and metal was sticking through it's head. VERY interesting. Great learning experience.
