  1. Hi guys! I'll also be taking patho...but I think we'll have a very supportive group of classmates so that should make things more bearable. I have a question for people living in the Flower Mound area... Which area did you pick as your choice of hospital location? I'm thinking something close to school (central Dallas?) or Irving as it is between school and home. What are your thought?
  2. Thanks so much Rha_Rea! I will order a copy from Amazon this week.
  3. Rha_Hea, You are right. I just spoke with someone in Dallas this afternoon. Must do patho along with the other classes. Too bad...I'll just have to bust my behind . Have you already done patho... If so, any pointers? I may use the Christmas break to familarize myself with some of the concepts. Do you know what book is used by the Dallas professor?
  4. I am sorry if this has already been answered, but I would like to know if it possible to take pathophysiology in the summer (summer 2010) after my initial nursing semester (spring 2010) so as to lighten my load in the spring. I am planning to speak to an advisor this week, but in the mean time the suspense is killing me . I know many people have taken it in the summer prior to their admission into the program... Is it also possible to delay taking by one semester as stated above? Thanks so much fo taking the time to answer.
  5. Hi FSK123, I think that is a great question...I have wondered the same thing. This is something that we discussed in my government class. Unfortunately, I found that most people just regurgitate what they hear on talk radio (Glenn Beck, etc...) ... Most of that info is politically motivated, so scientific facts are not a great concern there. I did some research on this and found this website quite useful : http://www.health.harvard.edu/press_releases/h1n1-flu-more-widespread-than-lethal. There are more articles on H1n1 on that website. I also like the cdc, but that is a government website. I also had this discussion with my microbiology professor who worked in HIV/AIDS research and has a great deal of knowledge in epidemiology... I found his reasoning quite compelling in support of getting the vaccine. In the end, it is not without some risk... so everyone needs to make the decision for themselves. Generally speaking however, as a matter of public health, I believe that the benefits greatly outweigh the risks.
  6. Plasma, don't feel left out :icon_hug:... You are a part of this great online community. No one said we can't all keep in touch once school starts, right? People here are so wonderful and suipportive here, I just wish I had joined earlier.
  7. Thanks, you guys! Now I can't wait to pick classes and make my schedule. Does anyone here still need to take patho? Since I have heard that the first semester is "brutal", I was thinking of taking either patho or pharm in the summer so as to lessen my load in the spring. What is your opinion? I don't know how to type into a pdf... you may need a special program. I too was thinking: print, sign, scan, attach, email
  8. I'm in too!!! I'm waltzing with my laptop around the house. Congrats butterflyjourney, elizabelle, goopsy, supersweet, to all of you who got in. The email should work now...so keep checking. I've been checking and rechecking to make sure I was not dreaming.I'm keeping my fingers crossed for everyone:) GPA:4.4 Hesi: 96.5
  9. Congratulations goopsy !! And thank you guys for the warm welcome. Supersweet, I am a second degree student. I used to be a teacher(French high school and later elementary language arts). My BA is in French literature... So, I pretty much had to start from scratch. But that's ok...Honestly, I am enjoying college so much more this second time around. Rha_Hea, sorry about your car battery; car problems can be a real pain....I say it's a sign, though. You'd better get yourself some cables .
  10. Hello everyone! I have been reading this thread for quite some time now as I await TWU's answer. Just wanted to say thank you :redbeathe for posting all the info... It makes waiting a lot more bearable :). Also, I wanted to wish everyone the best of luck as the deadline for the response is approaching.
