Is anyone out there applying to TWU for the Spring of 2010? Just thought that I would start a group for all of us hopefuls so we could share information and have a way to communicate with each other.
Have you taken your HESI A2 yet? Have you taken all of your pre-reqs? If not, what do you have left to take?
I have taken all of my pre-reqs, and I just took my HESI yesterday. I didn't think it was bad at all, but I prepared for it for about 3 weeks.
If you haven't noticed, TWU has made some slight changes that I think some people will not be happy with. They are taking into consideration the first grade made at pre-req attempts for several of the classes like A&P, micro, and another class. What do you think of this? I wonder how it will change the applicants chances of getting in?
Good luck and I look forward to meeting you!
Hey ladies, I don't know if many of you have done this, but I found out from a friend that some of his classes had not been included as transferring from other schools. I made an apointment with the counselors myself and went in to make sure that everything was as it should be. Interestingly, they had not included the most recent (and better) grades for two classes that I had retaken. I'm sure that this would have been figured out during the process (would like to think that anyway) but I'm glad I went in for the 10 minute discussion and found out and got it corrected before they really start looking at GPAs. I would have fallen below the 3.9 or so if I hadn't pointed those "new" grades out.
So my advice is that if you have the time to go visit with them, DO IT. It's worth the peace of mind.
Oh, and yes I'm taking Patho, but at the Parkland location. In fact I already have the syllabus for the class and know exactly when the tests are and what all I need to cover. Wow, looks like a lot of studying. We will be covering at least 2 chapters a week and have a total of 5 tests at 100 questions each.
Good luck to everyone,
lea
i think that's pretty normal....i am a student at Texas A&M in College Station and they also charge $7 for a transcript....$10 if you order it online
I always thought it was strange to charge for transcripts because two other schools I have attended (Midwestern State and Collin County Community College) do not charge. But I guess it's not! :wink2:
To ButterflyJourney - did they count A&P retakes for you? I had a 'B' in one, retook it and got an 'A', but I was not sure if they were going to implement the new 'only the first grade' rule for the sciences for this semester. How did you get the syllabus? Was already on Blackboard? I wish my prof would post ours!
Rha Hea, I didn't have a retake on any A&P, so I don't know what they do in that case. I do know that the policy is different for those who are post-bac students versus normal BSN students, so if you already have a degree you fall under a different policy.
Yes, my professor has posted everything on Blackboard already, it just showed up in the last day or two. I was actually happy to see that we will be starting with chapter 14 instead of chapter 1 because chapter 1-13 is basically a rehash of A&P I and II and I don't think I can rehash meiosis and mitosis yet again. :)
yah-about the transcripts: at Northlake College and at the University of North Texas they were free. You could go in and get like 10 without paying anything. That is all part of tuition.
butterfly-thanks for the heads up about the class and the syllabus. I was wondering about the tests since I am also taking some other courses and was wondering if the tests were in the same week.
I am definately going to go to TWU and make an apt; did you go to the dallas campus? Who did you meet with to make your apt?
Is anybody else turning in an updated transcript to TWU this week?I'm soo nervous.I just gave my trancript with my lifespan credit on it to the TWU houston campus today, since my school's computer was down all week and they said the letter will get to Denton either this friday or monday,as he latest; but I'm ganna overnight another copy tomorrow.I'm scared when it gets to Denton campus,my transcript will just be sitting in their office for a month and not getting put in the system.I need my lifespan credit in student records by Sep 1st.Anyone else having this issue?
I wasn't going to submit an updated transcript because my summer courses aren't nursing prereq courses, but I emailed the advisor for the Houston campus and she said that it would be better if I the transcript they had was the most recent...so here I go spending another $7 for another transcript ..... bleh.... these fees really add up over time...
