TWU Spring 2020 Hopefuls?

Updated:   Published

Hey! I'm applying to TWU for Spring of 2020. It's super early, but apps are due this Summer. Anyone else applying? I'm super nervous and I'd love to hear what everyone is doing to prepare for the TEAS! Also if anyone knows how many points are considered competitive let me know!

Thank you, looking forward to meeting you as well!!

I just got a letter offering me a spot in Houston. Did anyone else get accepted into Houston for Spring 2020? Is there a Facebook page for them?

I also got offered a spot last night to the Houston campus!! It’s a short notice & I’m hoping to see if anyone needs a roommate? I’m a guy tho.

Hi guys!

I'm new to the thread, but I was accepted to the Dallas program earlier this month! Is there a social media group/page yet?

Congratulations! Do you mind sharing your admission score?

Do we need Hepatitis C for our program? The form that was linked in the acceptance program doesn't say we need it, but one of the forms on Google says we do (this one https://twu.edu/media/documents/student-health-services/Demographic-Form-Immun-Requirements-Houston-Nursing-Programs.pdf)

Also, if I need to get a new Hep B vaccine, will I have to get the Heplisav-B instead? Because the form gives a specific time frame between the doses. The time frame between dose 2 and 3 is 5 months, which I can't complete before class starts in January.

This is an updated form - https://twu.edu/media/documents/student-health-services/Demographic-Form-Immun-Requirements-Houston-Nursing-Program-October-2019.pdf

For the Hep B vaccine, if your titers came back negative, you need to get the doses again, but you may not need all the doses. After you get your first dose, you go back after 1 month to get titers done again, and if Hep B is in the positive range you should be good. If not you get another dose and test again later. At least thats what my doctor said

I don't believe Hep C is needed anymore. For Hep B there is a 2 dose series that Kelsey Seybold clinics offers, it is the same effectiveness as the 3 dose. it's only 4 weeks between the two doses and 4 weeks after the last fose to get titer again. I also think the shots just have to be completed before our clinicals move into the hospital, not necessarily before class starts in January. I think we transition to the hospital 8 or so weeks after the semester starts

Is that vaccine at Kelsey Seybold a Hep B vaccine or Heplisav-B? I already had Hep B so I wouldn't be able to get Heplisav-B. TWU's Immunization Specialist person told me that I wouldn't be able to switch between the two vaccines, once you start one, you have to complete the same one. image.thumb.png.12abff4c5e34d7f197270c97eeb7b40d.png

Hey guys! I’m a graduating senior at the Dallas Campus looking to share some information with you guys coming in! If anyone knows the Facebook group, would you mind sharing me the link to the page? Also, good luck with your upcoming 1st semester as J1’s! You picked the best school and profession!
