TWU Spring 2020 Hopefuls?

Updated:   Published

Hey! I'm applying to TWU for Spring of 2020. It's super early, but apps are due this Summer. Anyone else applying? I'm super nervous and I'd love to hear what everyone is doing to prepare for the TEAS! Also if anyone knows how many points are considered competitive let me know!

I can definitely see that. Online will be much easier for you to go to school and still maintain your family!

It really will. I've only heard great things about TWU's program, though. From what I've heard, hiring managers roll out the red carpet for a TWU nursing grad. If my situation was a little different, I'd probably be choosing TWU!

I was awarded the $1000 scholarship, and my major had been changed to health science. I have 52 points now. I would like to re-take anatomy in the spring and apply for the Houston campus. Will I be able to get back into the College of Nursing though? I'm trying to make a good decision.

I would confirm with the school. If they're giving you a scholarship to change majors there may be stipulations. Don't forget you could be taken off the waitlist as well, those who were accepted have until next Friday to decide!

Is anyone else debating between TWU and another school. Any personal pros/cons for TWU? I want to make a decision to clear up a spot for someone else but I honestly don’t know.

I briefly debated between TWU and UTA online program. I have 4 kids, married, and our youngest daughter has rare complex medical issues (neuro autoimmune issues, non traumatic spinal cord injury, primary immune deficiency to name a few), so the online program does make sense for my situation. However, looking to the bigger picture, I want to be in the med center. I want the opportunities that TWU can provide that an online program can't provide. I like that I'll have summers off, and after visiting the campus a few times I like the support that the students get. Sacrifice now will pay of greatly in the future. We, thankfully, have a great village that will help with the kids.

I suggest writing out your pro/con list. Also try to find someone who knows you well that you can bounce the pro/con list off of. It helps to just talk it out.

Were you notified on your TWU email that you got the scholarship?

For those of you who had the bachelor's bump, do you happen to know if it matters what our degree was in? I'm applying for next fall and my degree is completely not healthcare related lol.

I don’t think it mattered. My BS is in Elementary Education.

Doesn't matter, mine is a BBA in Supply Chain Management ?

Yes I was.

Has anyone on the waiting list heard anything?

Did anyone get that email about the Multicultural Women's study course? I'm missing it because my community college didn't offer it. What do I do about this exactly?image.thumb.png.b4bd29a744ebff357453675131cf931e.png

It sounds like you will need to take it over one of the two summers before graduation!

This means I can just take the course after I begin the program right? It says that I need to be core complete before I begin the nursing program however. So I guess I just email someone at TWU and say I plan on taking that class during the summer.
