Hey! I'm applying to TWU for Spring of 2020. It's super early, but apps are due this Summer. Anyone else applying? I'm super nervous and I'd love to hear what everyone is doing to prepare for the TEAS! Also if anyone knows how many points are considered competitive let me know!

Well for spring I had 38.4 points only, and this time I’m applying with 47.4 points. ?
I do not have any TWU preference nor any previous bachelor bumps...unfortunately.
What campus are you applying to btw?

Has anyone spoken to an advisor that said as long as everything is submitted its ok?
Here is what it says verbatim:
"Official transcripts from each college you’ve attended with all college-level coursework (including dual credit) must be submitted to both TWU’s Office of Admissions Processing and NursingCAS.
Your NursingCAS application must be verified by the August 15, 2019 application deadline in order to be eligible for consideration. This means that you must enter all previously earned, in-progress, and planned college-level coursework in the NursingCAS application, and provide official transcripts electronically or via mail to NursingCAS."
The advisor in Houston told me as long as everything was submitted and received by August 15th then it was fine that it wasn't verified because they allow a few weeks for summer transcripts to be recieved and processed by NursingCAS. You can go ahead and have your transcripts sent to NursingCAS now to get verified while you are waiting to hear back from TWU. I don't think they really deny students from general admission. If you're applying to Houston I suggest reaching out to the advisor for your own confirmation. Her name is DeJanae Hayes and she is very helpful! [email protected]

I have a previous bachelor's and am applying as a transfer, so I don't think I wouldn't get accepted for general admission. I'm wondering if I can hit submit now so CAS can start verifying, as long as I have an official acceptance by 8/15 from TWU? What do you guys think? I doubt they will review any parts of the applications prior to that date...right?

When did you apply to TWU? After they received my last transcript they accepted me two days later on the Pioneer Portal. That was on the 24th of July and I received a letter of acceptance in the mail this past Saturday August 3rd and it was postmarked July 31. I live in Houston so it got to me pretty quick, but was still a week and a half after I saw my status change in Pioneer Portal. Also you can reach out to the office of admissions processimh at [email protected] and they can give you a status update too. I'm not sure if you're able to submit NursingCAS before the TWU acceptance so I would reach out to TWU today. From what I was told your transcripts don't have to be verified by August 15, just received. Don't sweat it yet and reach out to OAP, everyone I have encountered thus far at TWU has been very helpful!

Hi! I recently spoke with TWU advisors because I had the exact same concern as you. You're application does not have to be verified by August 15th, as long as you SUBMIT your application by the due date you should be fine. I had this problem because I paid Nursing CAS for PTE (Professional Transcript Entry) and the only way PTE could happen is if I submitted my application. After that, PTE verified my application within a few days, and one of the advisors told me anyway that they give you a couple weeks after Aug 15th so your app gets verified, he also told me they don't start reviewing apps until early September either
Hello everyone! This is my first time applying to Dallas and I just submitted my application a little bit over 2 weeks ago. I used PTE and after submitting it, NursingCAS verified my application within the same week. I called TWU advisors just to make sure they received my TEAS score and my app, which I recommend because I've heard a lot of fishy things happening!!
Nursing GPA: 3.88
Pre Req GPA: 3.93
TEAS Composite: 88.0%
Reading: 85.1%
Math: 93.8%

Admission Score: 66.80

I was actually in Texas Tech's Nursing program for a semester and had to move to Dallas for some personal reasons. I was honestly feeling fine about all this until I started reading the forums and realized that my Admission score is actually super low and I'm kind of freaking out. I don't have a prior Bachelor's degree and I didn't get my credits from TWU (I got all of them from Texas Tech) so I don't get any bumps in my admission scores. I know Houston seems to be easier to get in but the whole reason I am transferring is to stay in Dallas.
Admission Score 44.53
TEAS Composite Score 86
Reading 91.5
Math 96.9
Science 72.3
English 83.3
Nursing Core GPA: 3.76
Prereq's GPA: 3.74
Anyways, I know on the application we were given the option to add work/health related experience and licenses and other documents. I have pretty good experience and even downloaded 2 reference letters. How important will these be and will it be enough to make a difference? If they only look at the admission scores, then why even give us the option to add these documents and experiences? I put my credit hours into the TWU section just to see how it would change my score and I got a 62.53 Admissions score (not my actual score)! It seems so unfair that they give such a big bump just for students who took classes at TWU. What do I do.
Hi! I want to be honest and helpful to you as possible and I totally understand your concern. I believe Dallas spring admission score is around a 53+ (or at least something in the 50s) I believe that you'd have a better chance at Houston which is not that far from Dallas. Have you submitted your application yet? I would consider Houston, since its also not as far from Dallas as Lubbock is. Your scores are great and your TEAS too, it sucks that transfer students have a little harder chance because preference points are around 20 pts I believe. I know for sure that they don't look at experience or reference letters, its just in all Nursing CAS apps I think. I would recommend calling TWU advisors? They will give you an honest answer so you don't go wasting time/money. Best of luck to you!! I hope I helped even in the slightest ?

TWU confirmed receipt of my last transcript yesterday morning. I did get confirmation from an Nursing advisor that CAS just has to have everything by the 15th, not verified, so I should be good there. I have my TWU student ID and email address already, but I don't want to hit submit and then for some reason it get checked early and kicked back because I'm still missing my official acceptance. I'm not going to worry just yet, as I feel like as long as CAS shows receipt of my transcripts, the other stuff won't take as long...

Good to know! I got the same confirmation about the "verified" status from an advisor today as well. That was a relief, as I'm retaking my TEAS tomorrow to make myself more competitive so I was really concerned about the whole verification timeline.
