TWU Spring 2020 Hopefuls?

Updated:   Published

Hey! I'm applying to TWU for Spring of 2020. It's super early, but apps are due this Summer. Anyone else applying? I'm super nervous and I'd love to hear what everyone is doing to prepare for the TEAS! Also if anyone knows how many points are considered competitive let me know!

Does anyone know what the different statuses of the NursingCAS application are? My application says Complete but my transcript says Arrived. What's the final status for my application and the transcript? Is it supposed to say Verified for both? Or complete for both?

Your application will change to verified, I believe your transcripts will remain as arrived

Hi, I decided super last minute to transfer to TWU. I was actually in Texas Tech's Nursing program for a semester and had to move to Dallas for some personal reasons. I was honestly feeling fine about all this until I started reading the forums and realized that my Admission score is actually super low and I'm kind of freaking out. I don't have a prior Bachelor's degree and I didn't get my credits from TWU (I got all of them from Texas Tech) so I don't get any bumps in my admission scores. I know Houston seems to be easier to get in but the whole reason I am transferring is to stay in Dallas.

Admission Score 44.53

TEAS Composite Score 86

Reading 91.5

Math 96.9

Science 72.3

English 83.3

Nursing Core GPA: 3.76

Prereq's GPA: 3.74

Anyways, I know on the application we were given the option to add work/health related experience and licenses and other documents. I have pretty good experience and even downloaded 2 reference letters. How important will these be and will it be enough to make a difference? If they only look at the admission scores, then why even give us the option to add these documents and experiences? I put my credit hours into the TWU section just to see how it would change my score and I got a 62.53 Admissions score (not my actual score)! It seems so unfair that they give such a big bump just for students who took classes at TWU. What do I do.

Hi guys!! I submitted my application last Saturday for Spring of 2020, traditional at the Dallas campus. I feel very uncertain, my admission score is only 52.4 & so I feel like my chances of getting accepted are pretty slim! What do y’all think? Do I have a decent shot or am I right for being worried?? Also I scored 85.3 on my 1st attempt at the TEAS & on my 2nd try I improved 3/4 of the sections by 10 points BUT I failed the English portion, my new score was 86% BUT since I failed English, my score is invalid so I had to use my old score. The new rule for 2 attempts at the TEAS is definitely a game changer :////

When did you take the first TEAS? You have two attempts per application period, so if you took the first one before the application period closed for fall then you can still take it again for a second attempt during the spring cycle. I took my first TEAS for a different school on January 15, so it was outside of this app period so my advisor said I could technically take it 3 times since that first wasn't during the app period. Im in the same boat, i took it again on August 2 and improved 2 areas by 10+ points but failed English so I have to eitger use my score from January or retake it again. I plan on retaking it August 15th ?

I took the test on June 28th then July 27th so I don’t get any more tries. What is your admission score?

Hello guys, I just got accepted into TWU on the 31st August, and this causes me to be a lot behind on NursingCAS application. I need help on the standardized section on the application. I took the TEAS first time and I got 72% pretty low I know. I want to take it again on the 13th hopefully I get a score around 87%. Do I enter the first TEAS on the transcript or do I put a plan to take on the 13th? Thanks

If you are going to retake it, you need to wait to submit your application with that score. Good luck!

I think you'd be able to put the score you would get on the 13th!! (Also you got this!! 87% here you come!)

So I cant submit my application until my teas score is entered in, will they verify my application to meet the deadline? I'm so nervous.

Is there any way to take the TEAS earlier? You would need to put your improved TEAS score on NursingCAS. I got verified last week and I would say it takes about a week to get your application verified. I had to send my transcript through mail so maybe that's why.

Although, another poster said that NursingCAS just needs to have all your materials submitted by August 15th. If your transcript, application and TEAS score are all received by August 15, you're good. It doesn't have to be verified by August 15th, they just have to be received.

Thanks Brandon. How do I send my teas score to NursingCAS? This is my first time of doing this.
