Aaaaalriiighty! With the large volume of nursing students who applied for TWU this Fall semester and the very few amount of drop outs, it's time to start up the Spring 2017 applicants forum topic!! I'm one of the waitlisters who didn't make it into the Fall 2016 Dallas nursing program, but definitely had competitive scores.

For reference I had a GPA of 3.86 (3.68 nursing core) and a TEAS score of an 87 (top 3%). That left me with a total of 47.7 points (43.83 for Spring 2017, but I'll explain).

Now keep in mind that this semester TWU will no longer be looking at cumulative GPAs, but only the nursing core GPA. Other than that, the change in the Program Materials on the Nursing CAS application, and that you don't need to send a transcript to NursingCAS, there have been no major changes to note for the Spring 2017 semester.

Also, to those who either scored less than me or have a lower GPA don't let that discourage you. Last application cycle was a weird one with close to triple the amount of Honor's students (HS=guaranteed acceptance) and an unusually low declination return. Last Spring, the lowest accepted student had about 43.1 points. Which equates to about a 3.6 GPA and an 82-85 TEAS. If you can hit that ballpark you're in a good spot. Also, since there was such a high percentage of HS for Fall 2016 it's likely that there will be a much lower HS Spring turnout.

Stats for the Fall 2016 accepted students

Dallas lowest accepted: 51.1pts (40 HS)

Houston lowest accepted: 35pts

Now be advised that there is a full 20 points given to any TWU student with 32+ credit hours. That means if you're a TWU student with 32+ you've got great chances. Now for you transfer students (such as myself), I advise studying your tail end off for that TEAS in order to be competitive. It's not impossible, but it is improbable if you don't produce excellent returns.

Let me know if you have any questions about the application process or how the point system works and I'll be glad to answer. I spent hours researching and talking with advisors, so I've gotta lot of slick info in my book. Also, I'll probably post the actual calculator excel spreadsheet they use for calculating points later, so you can play around with it.

Hi guys, i am an international student. My GPA is 4.0 and Teas score is 85.3%. I already got a Bachelor degree in my homecountry. How do you guys think about my chance of getting in Twu Houston spring 2017? I am super nervous...

Trang, you will have no problem getting into Houston with your current stats!

Hi everyone,

I hope I have a chance.

I received a B in one of the courses I aimed for A which caused gpa to be 3.4

I took the TEAS for my 3rd time and received a 90%.

I do not have TWU bump or any previous degree.

I feel like your teas will compensate for your GPA, which isn't even bad at all!

thank you for the encouragement! I wish the best of luck for us all

I retook my TEAS test yesterday and scored slightly better. Not sure that my stats will qualify but I went ahead and submitted my application for TWU Dallas. The wait begins!

Nursing GPA: 3.73

TEAS: 86.0

I'm taking Patho in the fall. For now, I'm done worrying about pre-reqs and the TEAS! Best of luck to all!

Does anyone know if there is a way to confirm that TWU has received our TEAS scores? On the TWU Portal, I can see that they have received my transcripts, but I don't see anywhere that they have received my TEAS scores (which were sent around March!).

LaurATX, what campus are you applying to? I would say just trying call the campus you're applying to and ask them! :)

I was wondering the same thing...

Thanks future.rn.bsn! I'll give them a call some time next week. I was trying to avoid that because I'm sure they are bombarded with phone calls and emails around this time. But I guess there's no way around it! I'm applying to the Houston campus.

Honestly, between applying to Dallas and Houston, Houston is much easier to get in. If you have good stats, and don't mind the move, I would apply there. Many of you have great scores and would surely get in Houston compared to Dallas. My friend applied Fall '15, and got in with a GPA: 3.55 and TEAS Composite:85%. Another friend of mine got into Dallas with a GPA: 4.0 and a TEAS Composite:92% and they were an honor's student. The 2 advisors I met with said that both Dallas and Houston are equally hard to get into, but it's clear that Houston is way easier. I don't want to waste another cycle and possibly not get in. Dallas is a maybe, but Houston would be a yes. Just thought I'd let you guys know if you still aren't sure of where to apply. To everyone applying to Dallas; good luck!

Hi thanks Taylor. I applied to TWU in Houston. I already got into UTMB though so I might just go there instead.
