Aaaaalriiighty! With the large volume of nursing students who applied for TWU this Fall semester and the very few amount of drop outs, it's time to start up the Spring 2017 applicants forum topic!! I'm one of the waitlisters who didn't make it into the Fall 2016 Dallas nursing program, but definitely had competitive scores.

For reference I had a GPA of 3.86 (3.68 nursing core) and a TEAS score of an 87 (top 3%). That left me with a total of 47.7 points (43.83 for Spring 2017, but I'll explain).

Now keep in mind that this semester TWU will no longer be looking at cumulative GPAs, but only the nursing core GPA. Other than that, the change in the Program Materials on the Nursing CAS application, and that you don't need to send a transcript to NursingCAS, there have been no major changes to note for the Spring 2017 semester.

Also, to those who either scored less than me or have a lower GPA don't let that discourage you. Last application cycle was a weird one with close to triple the amount of Honor's students (HS=guaranteed acceptance) and an unusually low declination return. Last Spring, the lowest accepted student had about 43.1 points. Which equates to about a 3.6 GPA and an 82-85 TEAS. If you can hit that ballpark you're in a good spot. Also, since there was such a high percentage of HS for Fall 2016 it's likely that there will be a much lower HS Spring turnout.

Stats for the Fall 2016 accepted students

Dallas lowest accepted: 51.1pts (40 HS)

Houston lowest accepted: 35pts

Now be advised that there is a full 20 points given to any TWU student with 32+ credit hours. That means if you're a TWU student with 32+ you've got great chances. Now for you transfer students (such as myself), I advise studying your tail end off for that TEAS in order to be competitive. It's not impossible, but it is improbable if you don't produce excellent returns.

Let me know if you have any questions about the application process or how the point system works and I'll be glad to answer. I spent hours researching and talking with advisors, so I've gotta lot of slick info in my book. Also, I'll probably post the actual calculator excel spreadsheet they use for calculating points later, so you can play around with it.

Where do I find the points calculator?

I have a 3.5 core GPA

Got an 89% on the TEAS

No preference

What do y'all think?

Trying to get into Dallas

sorry for the late reply! so i realized that i wont be able to finish my 46 credit hours in time to apply for fall 2018 ill have only 43...is spring 2019 my only choice?

What classes will you have left to take?

if you have a low gpa (3.0-3.5) but high TEAs scores (>90%). What are the chances of getting in?

All my Political Sci, Gov, and history classes. Im finishing up my Nursing core this semester.

Hello fellow candidates! Thanks for sharing your stories and info-like many of you I have a bit of anxiety over the upcoming application deadline.

Here are my stats:

nursing core gpa: 3.72

TEAS: wish me luck as I am retaking the TEAS tomorrow! My original score was 80 (I was not prereq complete and I never studied for this)

My husband wants to live in Dallas so I am going to have to raise my TEAS above a 90 to get more than 48 points which seems to be the lowest acceptable range for Dallas.

Please let me know if 48 for Dallas will be competitive enough! I do not have a prior Bachelor's degree or preference points, unfortunately.

Good luck to all of you :) May we all be blessed to meet in class this coming January!

Does anyone know how many times you can retake the TEAS in one appication period?

Hi how do you know u can take the TEAS twice in a calendar year?thannks!

For those that got accepted a year ago, could you help a hopeful applicant for Spring 2018! Where do you think I stand with a 59.6 spreadsheet score?

When I click on the link, it will not let me access anything... it is saying "Oops! We didn't find that page." Is there any different way you could possibly share this spreadsheet? This would be very helpful information for me as I am getting ready to apply to nursing school soon!

How can I pass the teas high score reading comprehension. Last score did not meet 64 percentage for twu. Any tips please. I tried reading comprehension books teas manual youtube . Timing myself. For some reason my score was lower again. Please help

How do you calculate your points?
