Aaaaalriiighty! With the large volume of nursing students who applied for TWU this Fall semester and the very few amount of drop outs, it's time to start up the Spring 2017 applicants forum topic!! I'm one of the waitlisters who didn't make it into the Fall 2016 Dallas nursing program, but definitely had competitive scores.

For reference I had a GPA of 3.86 (3.68 nursing core) and a TEAS score of an 87 (top 3%). That left me with a total of 47.7 points (43.83 for Spring 2017, but I'll explain).

Now keep in mind that this semester TWU will no longer be looking at cumulative GPAs, but only the nursing core GPA. Other than that, the change in the Program Materials on the Nursing CAS application, and that you don't need to send a transcript to NursingCAS, there have been no major changes to note for the Spring 2017 semester.

Also, to those who either scored less than me or have a lower GPA don't let that discourage you. Last application cycle was a weird one with close to triple the amount of Honor's students (HS=guaranteed acceptance) and an unusually low declination return. Last Spring, the lowest accepted student had about 43.1 points. Which equates to about a 3.6 GPA and an 82-85 TEAS. If you can hit that ballpark you're in a good spot. Also, since there was such a high percentage of HS for Fall 2016 it's likely that there will be a much lower HS Spring turnout.

Stats for the Fall 2016 accepted students

Dallas lowest accepted: 51.1pts (40 HS)

Houston lowest accepted: 35pts

Now be advised that there is a full 20 points given to any TWU student with 32+ credit hours. That means if you're a TWU student with 32+ you've got great chances. Now for you transfer students (such as myself), I advise studying your tail end off for that TEAS in order to be competitive. It's not impossible, but it is improbable if you don't produce excellent returns.

Let me know if you have any questions about the application process or how the point system works and I'll be glad to answer. I spent hours researching and talking with advisors, so I've gotta lot of slick info in my book. Also, I'll probably post the actual calculator excel spreadsheet they use for calculating points later, so you can play around with it.

Hello all! My name is Sarah, and I was one of the ones that was waitlisted for Fall 2016. I'll be reapplying for SPring 2017. Stats are as follows:

Overall GPA: 3.74

Nursing Core: 3.68

TEAS: 85.3%

No TWU or previous Bachelor's bump.

Not sure if it will all be enough, but we shall see. I'm taking Patho at the Parkland campus in the Fall. Hoping to see you all in the Spring!

Hi Sarah! My name is Erika and I also plan to apply for Spring 2017 at TWU Dallas and I will also be taking Patho at Parkland in the Fall. I look forward to meeting you! Hopefully we'll be accepted into the Spring program!

Hi ya'll!

I am applying for Spring 2017 at the Dallas Campus as well. A little nervous about my nursing core GPA which is a 3.6. From the past threads most have been 3.7 or higher. My TEAS score was a 90.0. I also have a previous bachelors but don't really know how much that will help. I did the excel sheet and I had 56 points so I guess we'll see! I've noticed some of ya'll are taking patho in the fall, is that required? I haven't heard anything about that. Thanks!

You are not required to take patho but it is recommended. It is incorporated into the first semester of your junior year but you can take it early since it is considered a biology course.

Hi guys!

Im applying to Dallas for the Spring of 2017.

Unfortunately, I applied for this upcoming fall and landed #2 on the waitlist. Considering the current situation, it doesn't look like they'll be accepting any wait lists for this Fall. (I hope otherwise though).

Nursing Core GPA: 3.96

TEAS: 88

Hi everyone, my name is James and I'm currently in my last semester of the 2 year RN program I am enrolled in currently.

I have applied to TWU Houston's RN-MS program. I have not sent my GRE scores but will soon. I did get accepted into the RN-BS program already. Even though we may be in different degree plans, we may be taking the same courses. I could use the support! Also, I couldn't find any other threads for my degree plan.

Good luck everyone!

Hi, I am a B average student. My only C was in Chem. Do you guys think I have a shot of getting in? I'm taking Micro. this fall and I'm looking to get my CNA somewhere in Dallas. Any suggestions for CNA schools?

Hello everyone! Im choosing a date for my TEAS exam and it turns out that the only two days I can take it is on Wednesday August 10 or August 13th which is on a Saturday. However I know that the application period closes on August 15th, Do yall think its too late of a date to take the TEAS exam and have the results sent over in time? HELP

@nurse2bkd00 I called and asked about this just the other day. As long as you have proof saying you took it before August 15th it doesn't matter if results are in by that date or not. You can even take it on August 14th, you just need proof that.

I would take the test the earliest date possible. You really don't want to do it really close to the deadline.

Will you be applying to any other nursing schools?

I am! I will applying to Sam Houston as well. I was planning on applying to UT, but unfortunately they dont accept my philosophy course I took so I am holding off to see if i can get in at Sam or TWU.
