TWU Spring 2014 Applicants

Published

Hey everyone. I just wanted to start a thread for all of those hoping to get into TWU starting Spring 2014. My name is Kia and I have already sent in my application and completed my TEAS V exam. I'll be in the Denton campus patho class this fall (trying to wait patiently for an acceptance letter-GOD willing).

I took my TEAS test yesterday and today I got my results!

Adjusted Individual Score: 89.3%

ATI Preparedness: Advanced

Percentile National: 98

Percentile Program: 99

Reading: 97.6%

Math: 86.7%

Science: 85.4%

English/Language: 86.7%

My TWU GPA (using their sheet) is 3.67

4/4 A's on first try.

Now the wait starts! This is gonna kill me lol

That's great! Congrats! I still haven't taken mine yet I have been studying for a long time but really freakin out! I take mine on the 24th hopefully it won't be as bad as I think lol

I was kinda freaking out too but it wasn't horrible! My science wasn't as hard as I thought it'd be. Mostly questions about organ systems, cell functions, and chem. I had plenty of time on every section except math, which was easy but just hard to fit in enough time.

Ill def work on managing my time, thank you for your help!

Hello everyone! I have been checking this page pretty often but never posted.

I have already finished my application.

My stats:

Prereq GPA: 3.71

Teas score: 87.3%

2/4 preferences

I spoke to the advisor recently and was told my scores were competitive enough!

Even so, I feel like everyone has better stats than me.

Also I finished the application whenever it had opened so I don't remember but did they require a personal statement or letter of references?

Hi i just finished everything. I will be going for Houston i hope it is good enough.

Over all GPA 3.73

2/4 preferences

76.7 on teas :/

I also get the bump and that will be equivalent to a preferences making it a 3/4 instead of a 2/4. I hope it is good enough since my teas isn't that high.

Which campus are you going for?

What us the bump that you are talking about? Don't get it :(

The bump is added when applying and it is for those who have taken classes there. I dont know the exact number of credit hours but it is equivalent to .4 which is a preference. It is not added to our GPA like many think. So when twu is seeing who gets in the bump can help by being equivalent to a preference. So for example like me i have 2/4 preferences and with the bump i have a 3/4 get it? I am applying with two but they will add the bump when deciding since i was a student there. Get it?

:) got it.... That's really good, and it is bad for the ones that did not go to TWU as myself.... I don't know what to do? I see many people that are applying with a really high GPA and A' s and most of their preferences courses. My GPA is 3.55 and I only have one A as my preferences courses.. I called Denton and they told me that the GPA is good, but I have to make an 85% in my teas. However, I see many people with high GPA' s and more than one preference and are worry about it, and I don't get it, if the advisor from Denton told me that its ok why people like you worry so much? I am applying for Houston that is less competitive...

Yeah your GPA is good.. I am worried myself I do not know if it is good enough. Houston isnt "less" competitive its just that there more nursing schools there that more spots are denied. Good luck on teas you will do just fine :). Well we get the bump b/c the classes are harder and so i guess they know they can bring down your GPA.

Hi everyone,

I was a little confused about the prerequisite. Do we need to take any speech class for TWU?

Hope I do not miss any course. Thanks!

Our speech requirement will be taken care of once when are actually in the nursing program. (With a nursing specific type course I'm assuming) You don't need to worry about taking it before you get in.
