Hello!
I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?
After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.
So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!
Hi Everyone! Congrats to all of you that got in! I will be a J2 in Houston next semester! Have you guys started a facebook group yet? If so, let me know the name of your group and I will join it and can answer questions you guys might have!
Thanks for your offer!! The Dallas nursing students have a facebook group, but we already have a J2 from Dallas answering all of our questions. I feel that if we have more than one person it'll become too complicated.
I'm not sure about the new Houston students though!
I'm working as a group leader tomorrow at orientation, and I'm SO excited to meet you Dallas J1's! Remember to get a full nights rest tonight, and don't forget your $$$! Orientation is pretty exhausting! (and expensive ) Don't forget to use your group leaders, they'll tell you what you REALLY need to buy now, verses all the stuff they try to sell you that you won't ever use. Have fun tomorrow!

It is very do-able, though I would caution against it. The people that I know who tech are doing fine in school, but it is VERY difficult. Time management is super important and if your good with that, then you should be okay a long as your not doing more than 1-2 shifts a week.
Here's my schedule for reference, I'm sure Houston's is very similar:
M- Assessment lecture 2pm-4:30
Tu- Pharm 9am-12. Concepts lecture 2-5
W- Assessment lab 8am-12or1
Th-Concepts lab 8am-2. This class is the first 5-6 weeks, then you starts going to clinical on this day instead of lab. (clinicals are usually from 6:30am-1ish)
F-nothing
M-Tu is the same for everyone, labs are different and your generally split up into those by clinical groups. Ex: Some people have concepts lab/clinicals on Friday and they have Thursdays off. You should get your schedule at orientation.
