TWU Spring 2013 Applicants!

Published

Hello!:yeah:

I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?

After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.

So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!

I am so sorry to hear this!! :( Keep your chin up though, you never know how the decisions will turn out!

Thank you for the positive outlook. It's just so shocking. About half was not even in the study manual. But what can I do. Gotta keep going.

I finally took my TEAS this morning...what a relief!! I was surprised by the science section and have mixed feelings on how I did. However, I am not going to worry about it. What is done is done and now it is just time to wait!

On another note, does anyone know if there are any major differences in the UTA program and TWU as far as transferring goes? I am making an appt with an advisor over there but I figured most of y'all have had plenty of answers so I would try here too :) I am considering applying there should TWU and my other back ups not play out...

Hey Shellystev,

UTA requires two English classes (Technical Writing and 2000 or higher English Literature) that TWU does not require. Other than that, they are the same from what I can tell.

So I made a 64. I have no idea how I managed to get such a low score because I studied for such a long time, and have taken the exam before. I am so stressed... It totally sucks.

Hey :crying2: I feel your pain. I got my results back and made a 68.7 this was my second time taking the TEAS and I studied for a month also. I was so sad when I saw the grade I cried for a while, ate an entire bag of chocolate chip cookies, and drank some wine. I feel better today figured things happen for a reason. I honestly tried my hardest, now its all up to God. :D

What a great mindset to have!! Sorry your TEAS didn't turn out the way you were expecting :(

Hello all, I have also applied for the spring 2013 TWU Dallas program. I have a degree from Texas A&M, which seems to actually be a disadvantage here. On the GPA Calculation worksheet, it looks like the english and psychology courses to not count towards your gpa if you already have a degree. If I was evaluated as not having a degree, I would have a 3.58 gpa, but with a degree, I only have a 3.35 (I got all A's in english and psych, but B's in government). I did get a 99 on my TEAS V, so I hope that counts for something. Do you guys know if they really do evaluate different prerequisite classes for prior degree vs. non degree students?

Hi everyone, this site is a great source of encouragement for me and I hope same goes to everybody. I know that we have all worked so hard and I bet the effort will be rewarded.

For those of you who have patho with MacArther at the Dallas campus, I attended the peer tutoring thing Tuesday morning so I wanted to let y'all know what it's like in case you were on the fence about attending or not. Amber, who leads the tutoring, uses the Evolve power points from blackboard with her own notes added to them as her primary teaching method. She records the presentation if you are unable to attend for some reason but you must request the video by email. She has really interesting memory aids for a lot of the information and offers just a good, all-around refresher of the information. It's a much more low-stress place to go over the material and ask questions. The discussion is held in an auditorium classroom on the 2nd floor so there is plenty of room for anyone that wants to attend. Email me if you have any other questions! Also, I'd really like to meet my fellow classmates and maybe get together to study! [email protected]

There are some math classes and some science I believe. Also most of the classes must be taken within the last 3 years. I was actually just looking at their website 2days ago.

Oh I cried as well, and ate some (actually an entire bag) chocolates as well. It was my 3rd time taking it, I used their book to study and I feel like it's not even close to the exam. It's so upsetting. Also on my exam results its a completely different test date than the one I took. I emailed them and nobody even replied.

Really I would call them. I still turned in my application and am keeping my figures crossed will see.

Three years?? That would not be good seeing as the last time I took some of these courses was 6 years ago. I called yesterday to make an appt just in case...I'll report back if anyone else is interested!
