Hello!
I know it's pretty early to be starting this forum, but I just wanted to put my voice out there and see if there is anyone else out there hoping to join TWU's nursing program in the spring of 2013? What are you taking this semester (spring 2012), and when are you taking the TEAS-V entrance exam?
After this spring semester of taking microbiology, chemistry, developmental psychology, and statistics, I'll be ready to apply before the September 1st deadline! I'm hoping to take the entrance exam in the summer - probably June or July.
So yeah, I just wanted to see who else was out there!
I'm so disheartened!I made a 75 on my TEAS V. I know it was due to lack of time in studying. There's nothing else I can do now but wait for November. I think I'm going to get myself a strong glass of wine now.
You're a very strong candidate with your GPA though, and I don't think 75 is a bad score. Don't give up hope!
Thank you very much. I also ran out on time on the math part, and I am very good at math. My testing center was really noisy, there were people in the lobby/waiting room laughing and chatting the whole time. It was so hard to concentrate. I will have to look into the patho class tomorrow!
Wow, that sounds terrible!! I can't believe they didn't make everyone outside hush!!
It seems like everyone got really good scores on the TEAS. Got a 68 on TEAS V after taking it for the 3rd time. I studied so much, about a month for hours each day and it seems I couldn't get the score that I wanted. I studied separate books this time for each subject and review the ATI book again. I'm such a bad test-taker. I'm so concerned that I won't be able to get into the nursing program this spring. The first two times I was not able to apply because my TEAS score was too low to apply, but this time I was able to apply to TWU Dallas with a 68...but I know TWU Dallas is really competitive to get into! I felt like taking TEAS V was difficult because I'm not good at standardized tests no matter how much I studied for some reason. I always do really well in classes but standardized tests is always a problem to me. I also followed the tips that allnurses have on here too for TEAS V. I have 3 attempts out of the 4.... All A's on my transcript except B in Chemistry, C in A&P II, and B in Lifespan. 3.73 GPA before completing pathophysiology at twu and 3.75 after completing patho with an A ..but I know patho does not count towards the nursing application...I am also core complete with an AA...
Don't give up just because of your TEAS score. You are a very strong candidate in your first attempts and your GPA, and I'm not sure if it's true but I keep hearing that advisors weigh the first attempts higher than they do the TEAS. Keep your head up, and GOOD LUCK!!!
Hello everyone! I just applied to the Nursing program and I registered for the Dallas Patho class this morning after reading this forum. I'm so glad I read this before the semester started!Does anyone know what the parking situation is like? I might just take the DART train since the Parkland station is less than a mile away.
Welcome, Sindee!!
I didn't do well on the TEAS either, I got a 69.3. @shinbi89 I don't do well on standardized tests either. I ran out of time on the math portion, which killed my score. I am applying with 3.75 (not including bumps), and I have all 4 first attempt A's. I am super stressed about my TEAS score. It was not my best performance, but it is what it is and now it's out of my hands as of right now.
PArking at the Dallas campus requires a parking decal that can be purchased online through the portal or on the denton campus. The parking garage is mostly done, the first level is for faculty and then the rest are for students (I believe). There are also parking meters that run along the street but I would imagine that that would get quite expensive. DART is always a good idea, just don't rely on the A-train to get you back to Denton (if you need to), as the A-train no longer does mid day transport. Hope I could help!
