twu spring 2012 applicants!

Published

Hey guys! I wanted to start a forum for us twu spring 2012 hopefuls!

About me

I have a 3.2, yikes! :sofahider, and after this summer it should come up to a 3.6 or 7 and I am studying my butt off for the teas and will only have 3 more classes after that to take. I have gotten into the university as the first step, but I am so worried about getting into the nursing program, fingers crossed :uhoh3:

For those of you who have been accepted, but are still waiting to hear from UT did you accept admission already? I was going to wait to see if I got into UTHSC first. Is it bad form to accept and then later back out if you decide to go somewhere else?

I accepted to 3 schools already but I'm still waiting for UTHSC. The best thing I think you could do it just let them know as early as possible if you won't be attending.

I'm sending my stuff today while waiting for UTHSC. No biggie!

I believe most of us that we're accepted had A's on first attempts!

I think that certainly helped- I got As on all the nursing pre-req sciences except for Chem- I got a B in chem..

I live in the Dallas area and the cheapest twinrix I found was about $115 per shot plus a $75 "consultation" lol. Since there's 3 shots it was going to be pretty expensive!

BCBS covers this series- Do it at a Kelsey-Sebold clinic and it's covered 100%!

There are several RediClinics in the houston area that offer walkins with no consultation fee for the vaccines. The clinics accept most insurances for the vaccines and they also have twinrix. Does anyone know when the spring semester starts?

Each county has a health department, I would check into the health department in your county and see how much they charge. Like Dallas, they may offer a student discount. Worth a "shot"....ha ha ha

Does anyone know any current TWU students that could help us out on some info and questions? Rocket surgery has been so helpful on the UT forum and I have so many questions before I finalize my decision!

@taylorxteddy: I wish I did. Unfortunately, the only people I currently know in nursing school are at UTMB.

I'm about, uh, 90% sure that I'm going with TWU over UTH. I plan to email in my forms later this afternoon. But that 10% of uncertainty is killing me. D:

Random: I can't remember - was there a personal statement/essay in the TWU application?

@taylorxteddy: WAIT NO I TAKE THAT BACK! I do actually (sort of) know someone there. We're not close, but I wouldn't mind starting a potentially awkward conversation, haha. What would you like to know?

Did you see that really long post a few pages back? It was regarding new nursing students, I believe it was posted by a current student. I also know there are some forums for TWU from other people who applied last year. there is probably some information on their posts. Also, you might check Facebook for another nursing group from other years. Good luck in your search.

who has an idea about how our typical schedule would look like and will we be in school in summer
