twu spring 2012 applicants!

Published

Hey guys! I wanted to start a forum for us twu spring 2012 hopefuls!

About me

I have a 3.2, yikes! :sofahider, and after this summer it should come up to a 3.6 or 7 and I am studying my butt off for the teas and will only have 3 more classes after that to take. I have gotten into the university as the first step, but I am so worried about getting into the nursing program, fingers crossed :uhoh3:

Hey Learlady.. there already is a facebook page set up. Its under Dallas Spring 2012. Also, Angela... I talked to Heather from the Denton Campus about it and she had to ask someone else. Houston maybe different than Dallas.

Concerning the hep b vaccination: from everything that I've heard/been told, you only need to have the first two rounds completed before you begin clinical rotations. By this time, you should be sufficiently vaccinated. :)

@cabryan

YEAH I KNOW!! December is so far away, but you know what I dont mind, if it gets me in :) What is your GPA and TEAS score?

@katehoang117

Congratulations!! :) what are your TEAS score and GPA if you dont mind sharing with us few that are still waiting to hear back?

I believe most of us that we're accepted had A's on first attempts!

Yupp. And probably GPA's close to 4.0 if not 4.0. And awesome test scores. I think my TEAS screwed me. :(

For all of you wondering about Hep B, you can also do the series in 4 weeks. Good luck to all of those waiting, and don't loose your hope. For all of those accepted Congrats.

Regarding shots...y'all should check your shot records to see if you're already vaccinated against hep b and all of the others. I was about to pay $600+ for the series that can be finished in 4 weeks (it's called twinrix and generally only offered at travel vaccine clinics and NOT covered by insurance) before I started searching for my old shot records. I had to call my old high school and finally found that my pediatrician from long ago still had them... Found out I had everything done as a kid and had titers done for proof. Saved ALOT of money!

Nela. I had A's on all first attempts sciences. But my TEAS score was in the low 70s.

Hello, how much does it cost for the twinrix at the travel agency?

The twinrix is a couple hundred dollars I believe. Last I heard, it was around $17 per needle most places. If there is any possibility that you've had Hep B, either dig up old shot records or go get a titer. My titer was covered under my annual physical by insurance, so no out-of-pocket cost for me. My shot records were jacked up so I wasn't sure if I had had hep B, but my titer came back a-ok.

oh ok. Thank you :)

Congratulations everyone, especially to the Houston campus folks since the Houston campus is just so much better. :D
