TWU Houston Fall 2009

U.S.A. Texas

Published

I could not for the life of me find a thread for people who were going to be going to Houston in the fall, so here we go.

I was going out for the fast track 2009 in Dallas, got denied and put back in the fall applicant pool, then BAM:D, got hit with the shocker last night when I got home from work that I had been accepted to the regular BSN program in Houston.

I'm really excited to start a new chapter and I thought this would be a good way to meet other members of the class before we get there. So shout out where you're from and your background so we can all get to know each other before August!

(P.S.- I've also been accepted to the community college in my hometown, which is closer, cheaper, and probably going to be easier, but I think it would be borderline offensive to turn down such an awesome offer, let me know what you think)

The loan that gives u the money directly is the education connection loan

ok so i just applied for my wells fargo loan, and because its only my mom, me and and my brother... they are saying my moms income supposedly wont let me get a loan through them.. which im not understanding, cause my mom has outstandingg credit, and she is with wells fargo as well..... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH %&(&($!!! this is fustrating and pisssing me off!, i dont know where to look next

ruchita, it could be because your mom makes too much. I am always declined because my husband and I make too much together. Now I want to see if Wells Fargo will give me more money because the people the TWU has me with only gave me around $13,000, for two semester and I really don't think that will be enough. But I will have to see after the first semester. Besides we will be making a lot less money without me working. So.. I should be approved for more financial aid and/or wells fargo's loan. (at least I hope I should)

As for the summer payment, I want to say that the payment is due before the first day of class. I believe I recall reading that on TWU's web site.

Well the collegiate loan I think goes by what the school says. That's why I'm getting the other loan they offer. My frist degree uncle sam said my dad made to much even though he is a single parent. U should get the other loan I believe its called education continue or something like that. I used sallie mae last time u can get a private loan through them. Look at what ur fasa said u can contribute. That way u can see if the gov thinks ur mom makes too much

eamaya, I got about the same financialaid as you got, around 14000 for 2 semester. I don't plan on taking any additional loans because I alredy accumulate some loans during my first BA degree. I really hope you will get the summer schedule (class) that you wanted! Can't wait to meet you guys! :)

I wonder how much I will be getting when my stuff is processed. I know they won't get to mines till the summer

i'm pretty sure i've already asked this but is it too late to apply for financial aid? and as far as the aid, is it per semester you apply or is it for one whole school year?

You only apply once per academic year r33sa. I really adivce you apply for FAFSA now. It only takse like 20 minutes to apply... does not hurt to try. :)

okay i'll do that tonight. So does that mean that i can't apply for the financial aid certification on pioneer portal? The money that you received...is that through FAFSA?

Does anyone know how long it takes twu to process ur fasa. When I called they said it takes like a wk or two for them just to get it

The FAFSA will process your application and they will send your info to the school and the school will calculate how much they gonna give you base on FAFSA. As for the finanical aid certification, i don't know... I can't remember which form i have filled out; but I did fill out some form over the pioneer portal to finish the process. You can call the financial people and ask.

One more thing... the FAFSA will tell you your expected family contribution (which means how much they expect you or your parents to pay out of your own pocket). Let's you and tuition and all the expense is 20,000 for 2 semester at TWU, and your expected family contribution is 6000, then you most likely to get like 14,000 financial aid, either through loans or grands or both (most likely through loans). Let me know if you have any additional questions.
