TWU Fast Track Summer '09

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Is anyone out there applying for the fast track program starting in the summer for the Dallas campus? I am applying. Will have my pre-reqs completed in January. I am very stressed about them only accepting 30 students!!! Does anyone have any thoughts, concerns, anything??!? I think I am going crazy waiting for April to come to know if I got in or not!

Polska sorry you didn't find the study guide helpful. I really found it helpful and I got above average score for TWU's standard. What about the acutally test did you find difficult??

As so many people already mentioned on this forum reading passages are very long ang confusing compering to the ones in the Net study guide.

I know people with 4.0 gpa who failed the reading part b/cos they just focused on the study guide.

I didn't think the study guide was particularly fantastic, but it was the best way I found to study for it. I got the exact same scores as Princess_WannaBe, by the way...Which is really strange considering she sold me her study guide when she was finished with it!

The only other resource I found even remotely decent was this online practice test:

And this study guide was also insightful:

I still can't believe we got the same score. How freaky was that??? Polska it's strange how half the people who I talked to said it was easy and the other half said it was hard. I had ok reading topics when I took it something about the ear and bats and other stuff. Well just hang in there. If you have a high enough GPA it will outweight the NET score. From what I heard a average score for TWU is 65-70%. So don't give up!!!:nurse:

I have high GPA and average NET score.

I read in the Dallas Morning News that TWU CON was looking for spanish speakers applicants.

Do you guys know if Spanish is a plus?

That is interesting. When I went to TWU for an advising appointment, they told me that consideration for the program is strictly based on the NET and the GPA.

You should call and clarify though just in case.

I see this year appicant pool will be very tough. The lowest gpa from anyone who I know is applying to fast track is 3.8!!! It will be competitive for only 30 slots. Glad to see us 2nd degree people mean business :)

Thanks so much for the links AggieNurse. I figure anything at this point might be helpful. I'm wishing I would have scheduled my NET in December instead of November now, because I'm so busy studying for this CRAZY micro class that I don't know when I'm going to get a chance to study for the NET. I guess I'll either know it at this point or I won't. Can you really study for reading comprehension anyway? I have a question...does anyone else every worry that even though they say they don't really look at the math or anything besides the reading, that they still see the other scores and just maybe....it plays a role in their decision? Just a thought. I think I must just be looking for things to worry about at this point.

Yah, I was worring about that too, i mean, if they don't even take the math, then why stress about it? I mean, I will study for it and all, but just not really worry about it. It still makes me wonder though if they will look at it for some reason though.

Thanks AggieNurse for the links. I had already found the first one, but the second pdf was great. :nuke: I take my NET in December...

Just use the Study Guide for the math section. I literally took ONE of the practice tests in the math section, and I made a 97 on the NET.

Yeah, so I WISH they looked at the math. And you will, too...The math is about 1000X easier than the reading, in my opinion.

And, no, you can't really study for the reading comprehension so much. You just have to know what to look for, which is why the study guide I linked was so helpful. It, like this whole nursing school admissions process, is just a game that you have to learn to play.

Good luck! And just take it in November and be done with it. You don't need to spend hours upon hours studying for it...Or at least I don't think so.

I'm sure this question has already been asked, but about how long does it take to get your scores back on the NET? Does it seem to anyone else that we are always "waiting" for something?

When I took the NET it took about two weeks to get the results back.

Didn't take long at all for me. I took it on a Saturday and got my results in the mail the following Friday--So, just under a week!
