TWU Fall 2011 Hopefuls

Published

Hello! Just wanted to start a thread for those applying to the college of Nursing at Texas Woman's University. Who already goes there? What do you have left to take? Are you nervous... etc!

My name is Alli, I will start at TWU, not the nursing program, this summer. Moving to Denton with my husband. I can't wait!

The TWU website says applications had to be postmarked by today, so as long as it's mailed today, I think they'll accept it, regardless of when it arrives. And I'm assuming ATI sends the score reports electronically, so there shouldn't be too much of a delay. Since I took the test yesterday, I think I'll be fine.

I live in Houston so I applied to the campus here.

BCPOOL,

I am on the same boat as you..I have applied to 100 jobs and still no reply (errr).. I am just sitting around thinking what can I do before school starts in FAll.. I am also thinking about taking patho's but scared if schools will accept the grade since some of them want you to take that class at their school..

I hope I get in TWU..My GPA is really high but my TEAS score is really bad comparing to everyone else...I cannot even take it again since the application deadline is coming up soon..

I am right there with you! I applied to several jobs and haven't even heard anything back. It's a little frustrating, especially since I have had medical experience. I used to work in the emergency room as an ER Tech with my EMT license. I highly recommend doing something like EMT school if you are waiting around like I am. It's only a month an a half and can give you some great exposure. I haven't looked into the CNA program but I heard that is a great idea as well! It seems that most of these jobs require you to have a first semester of nursing school under your belt. Hopefully your high GPA will offset your TEAS score! My score seems about average but I am still worried because it's not spectacular and I do not get the GPA boost.

I am taking Patho at the TWU Denton campus right now. It started on January 18th. I really hope it makes the first semester of nursing school easier. They will most likely offer it again in the summer. What kind of jobs have you applied for? I am thinking about applying for a CNA job to start getting the feel of being in a medical environment and being around patients. I found a place that pays you as they train you and pay for your state test, they then give you a job but you are supposed to commit to work for them for a year after that. The next interview day for the training class is Feb 8th and I am debating back and forth if this will be a good idea. I think if they will let me work part time then I will do it.

Many of the jobs I have applied for are geared for PCA's/PCT's. Some of the coworkers I worked with were Certified Nurse Assistants and had the same job duties that I had. I am hoping that one of these places will hire me based on my experience and look past the fact that I am not technically certified as a Certified Nurse Assistant. Hmmm the whole committing to a whole year of work always worries me. At my old job, many of the nurses committed to signing a contract that lasted 2 years after their graduation. Many were unhappy with the work environment (politics, understaffed ER , etc) and were counting down the days until their contract was up. My suggestion is to make sure the hospital/program has a good reputation and has a happy staff. It makes a TON of difference.

hello all,

i got C for a&p i & intro to psyc; B for Micro. Rest of the sciences are A. I scored Teas at 72. I am worried about the my c's and my teas score. I have been reading the threads for previous semesters. I got a lot useful information. I don't know if I could get a chance to get in.

Good luck to you all!

one more thing, don't forget to apply for scholarships

deadline is March 1st

Thank you for the reminder!!! I have been so busy with apps for other schools that I forgot about this! :yeah:

Hi everyone! I applied to the Houston campus. I am freaking out because of what I have just read from many of you. My Teas score was a 77...I ordered the study manual which helped me in all areas but science. My gpa is a 3.469 and I do not get the bump. I am beginning to convince myself that I will not be accepted. Any thoughts?

Do not get discouraged! I am in my first semester in the BSN program at TWU Houston and I made like a 74.6 score on the TEASV. They look a number of things. Just don't give up and apply to as many schools as you can. This semester I think over 600 people applied and only about 100 got in.

Than you for your encouragement! This is the second time that I apply for twu. I hope I will get in this time.

Good luck to all of you guys

Therealkara if you don't mind me asking what was your gpa like?

Does anyone know how the admission process works for TWU?? Do they do interviews or is it just acceptance/denial letters?

Thanks in advance!

No interviews...Just acceptance/denial letters sometime mid-march.
