Hello! Just wanted to start a thread for those applying to the college of Nursing at Texas Woman's University. Who already goes there? What do you have left to take? Are you nervous... etc!
My name is Alli, I will start at TWU, not the nursing program, this summer. Moving to Denton with my husband. I can't wait!
I was accepted to TWU Dallas campus. I chose TWU becuase it's close to home and relatively inexpensive compared to some of the other programs. I work at a hospital where most of the nursing students from TWU emphasize their great classes and instructors! My statistics are 4.0 GPA without a bump and 87.5% on the TEAS V. Don't get discouraged if you haven't heard anything yet. There are so many programs that people are having to choose from.
My question is: Why did you guys decide to apply to TWU or why you are accepting TWU over UTMB?
The main reason I didn't apply to UTMB is because I was too lazy to write the application essay. It would have been my 3rd choice after UT-Houston and TWU, so it just wasn't worth the effort to me.
Another reason is that I didn't want to drive to Galveston every day or move there.
My niece did their accelerated program and was in her 2nd year when Hurricane Ike hit. Needless to say, it screwed up their entire class and they had to relocate their clinicals and classes to the Med Center.
I'm confused... but after reading that recent post, I guess that makes sense. When I called TWU Houston she said the acceptance letters will be out BY the first week of May. Maybe that means with everything-- after people who have been accepted reject TWU. When I called TWU Denton the lady told me this week... haha I guess the lady in Houston just meant for everyone (including waitlisted). I haven't gotten an e-mail yet that I've been accepted/ waitlisted/ rejected. I know my GPA and TEAS scores aren't as competitive as others, but my GPA is 3.47 and made a 87 on the TEAS V.
My question is: Why did you guys decide to apply to TWU or why you are accepting TWU over UTMB?
I'm trying to decide which school would be better.
Any thoughts?
Thanks a lot!!!
i actually chose to attend TWU because it was in close proximity to my home and it offered a nursing program. I didnt find out the nursing classes were located in dallas/dfw until after I went to an open house for the school. I had it already set in my mind that I was going to go to TWU and get a nursing degree before I worked out any of the details. Once I start something I will see it come to pass. I didnt apply to any other school. I placed all my chips on TWU.
Anybody interested in starting a thread or Facebook for 2011 fall accepted to Dallas? It would be great to stay in touch

Hey PAMQ (and everyone else confused about acceptance letters),
I thought I'd repost the information about the acceptance process. First of all, I have to say it:
KEEP CHECKING YOUR TWU EMAIL - DON'T FORWARD IT TO ANOTHER EMAIL ACCOUNT.
The Denton Nursing Office has sent out initial acceptance letters to the top 90 applicants for Houston and the top 110 applicants for Dallas. These applicants have until April 15th to confirm their acceptance with the DENTON Nursing Office. If you haven't received an acceptance letter at your TWU email address, unfortunately, you just have to sit tight for now. You won't be able to find out where you are on the list - Dallas and Houston don't have access to the lists, and Denton will not give out the information, so don't waste your time calling trying to find out your standing. They'll just tell you to keep checking your TWU email. If someone declines to Denton, they will send an acceptance letter to the next person on the list and so on until there is a full class of confirmed students. When all of the spots have been confirmed, Denton sends the names of the accepted/confirmed students to the campuses. When we get the list, we send you another acceptance letter along with more detailed information about starting the program. This is why the contact in Houston said acceptance letters would be out by the first week of May - she meant the acceptance letters from the HOUSTON campus. Right now, we're not sure when we'll get the list, so we don't have an exact date when they will go out. Dallas no longer mails anything - it is all via TWU email, so Dallas accepted students will need to keep checking that TWU email. I'm not sure how Houston sends them, but rest assured it will be a little bit (at least a week or two) before you get anything.
So, to sum up, accepted students get TWO acceptance letters - one from Denton, then one from the campus to which they were accepted. The Denton one comes first, and the campus one will come later, with lots more information about the program.
Hope this helps clear up some confusion!

Thank you! This clarifies a lot! Does this mean that the acceptance letters (from Denton) via e-mail have all gone out, now? So if we haven't received an e-mail as of today then that means we were not part of the initial acceptance crowd in our selected campus? So in my case, Houston? I know there's still hope-- for the people who decline TWU give those who are waitlisted a spot. Also, are the rejection letters going to be e-mailed, too. The reason why I ask is because I'd like to know if I'm rejected/ wait listed haha. Thank you!

Hello!
I have a doubt, I missed the application deadline for TWU so i didn't apply. However, i think my stats were competitive, 3.4 science, 3.8 overall, and 92% on TEAS. Now I can't decide whether to wait for next semester to apply for spring 2011 or go ahead and go to UTMB. I live in Houston and thought of commuting, maybe it wont be so bad especially if i can do my clinicals in Houston.
My question is: Why did you guys decide to apply to TWU or why you are accepting TWU over UTMB?
