TWU Fall 2020 Applicants

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Updated:   Published

Hey there. I plan on applying to TWUs N&W program in February for the Fall 2020 start. I just took my TEAS test today, my score was:

Overall: 85.3%

Reading: 87.2%

Math: 96.9%

Science: 74.5%

English: 83.3%

I'm not happy with my science score, but I also haven't taken A&P II or Chemistry yet, just A&P I. I plan on retaking the TEAS in December.

I have a 3.85 science core GPA (one B in A&P I) and 3.81 prereq GPA. that gives me a 45.56 admission score, which probably won't cut it. I can't retake A&P I in time, so my only hope is a higher TEAS score.

Who else is applying for Fall 2020? Are you applying to Houston, Dallas Traditional, or Dallas N&W?

Once we submit our NursingCAS application, what happens? My status says received.

My switched to verified yesterday, Wednesday. I submitted on Saturday. NursingCas emailed me to let me know. I'm assuming that means I'm not missing any documents and that I'm not just in the waiting game.

I think that's it. It'll change to verified after they receive all your transcripts but an advisor told me it doesn't need to be verified by the deadline

I was told the same thing by an advisor. As long as the NursingCAS application was submitted by the deadline, we should be good.

Does anyone have any good online resources to study the English part of the TEAS exam? I've never been good at grammar and English language rules. I have my exam soon and I can't for the life of me score more than a 65 on that section on practice exams.

I score above 90s on all the other sections on my practice exams but this English section is gonna kill my chances of being accepted to TWU.

I find that using worksheets for the English concepts that I struggled in helped bring my English practice score from 66% to an 83%. I learn best by repetition and practice, though. It depends how you learn best.

You can find pretty much any worksheet if you google search "____ worksheet pdf" like "complex-compound sentences worksheet pdf."

Are you facebook? If you are, there is a group call ATI TEAS 6 TEST - Study Group. You can join that group. They got plenty of files for English.

Have you looked at Carolyn McCallister's videos on YouTube, they are pretty handy for the grammar and rules aspect.

Does anyone know how the waitlist is organized? Is it by last name or points or gpa?

It is by admission score! The next highest in line go first. The lowest accepted before they waitlisted people at the Dallas Campus was 55 points but the waitlist reached all the way onto 53.4! I did not get accepted to the Dallas Campus but 3 weeks later after being rejected they extend me an offer to the Houston campus. I didn’t accept the offer bc it would be too expensive. I also know other Dallas applicants that got an extend offer to the Houston campus instead. But that all means that Houston probably has not waitlist, because they didn’t offer spots to next in line to Houston applicants, instead they offered it to the Dallas applicants.

That's what I was wondering too. Did you originally apply for spring? I hope Houston has no waitlist. My score is pretty low compared to others ?
