TWU Fall 2020 Applicants

Updated:   Published

Hey there. I plan on applying to TWUs N&W program in February for the Fall 2020 start. I just took my TEAS test today, my score was:

Overall: 85.3%

Reading: 87.2%

Math: 96.9%

Science: 74.5%

English: 83.3%

I'm not happy with my science score, but I also haven't taken A&P II or Chemistry yet, just A&P I. I plan on retaking the TEAS in December.

I have a 3.85 science core GPA (one B in A&P I) and 3.81 prereq GPA. that gives me a 45.56 admission score, which probably won't cut it. I can't retake A&P I in time, so my only hope is a higher TEAS score.

Who else is applying for Fall 2020? Are you applying to Houston, Dallas Traditional, or Dallas N&W?

@yfatima82 Yes I did put in my teas scores. So since I have a previous bachelor's I put yes on that question and the TWU preference is only if I attend TWU correct?

Yes. Still nothing?

Specializes in Nursing.

@yfatima82 It gave me a score now, but I still feel like I maybe made a mistake because it gave me an extremely low score.

@yfatima82 I'm honestly not sure what I'm doing wrong. I'm putting in my information and it won't give me a score. Maybe I'm missing something? I did include my grades, but I have a previous bachelor's degree and I am not sure if I have to include the history and government scores.

The spreadsheet will give you your score once you insert everything, including your TEAS score. So make sure you put that in as well.

In the same page that you downloaded the spreadsheet from there is a link to the instructions on how to insert your grades into the spreadsheet. For example, If you have an A in a course you insert a number 4 for that class. If you have a B you insert a 3. Etc. Did you take a look at that? Maybe you didn't insert the grades correctly?

Have you made an appointment with an advisor? One of the things she did for me during our appointment was help me calculate my score. Maybe if you think it's wrong an advisor can help you out!

Hello All,

I recently took the TEA's and I am ready to submit my application. My admission score is about a 47.31 and I was hoping to apply to the Dallas campus, but based off on advice from friends, they said I have a better chance of getting into Houston's campus, which I do not mind at all.

I do have TWU's preference as well as a nursing GPA of 3.68.

What do you guys think?? Houston or Dallas?

Hi everybody, I have a bit of a conundrum. I am applying to TWU and a few other schools. One of the schools requires that all of the hep B vaccines be done before the application is submitted in April. That school does accept the accelerated version of the vaccine called twinrix. The issue is I am not sure if TWU accepts that version. If I get positive immunity from the twinrix will that suffice for TWU? Does anyone have experience with this sort of issue? Thanks so much in advance!

So I was in a nursing program fora year so I kinda have some insight on this, although it wasn't at TWU.

When my nursing school wanted proof of vaccinations, they asked for hep b titers only. If the titer showed a numerical immunity, then that was all we needed to submit. If you no longer had immunity, you had to provide proof that you had the vaccine as a kid then get the booster I believe. Every school, like you mentioned, does have different requirements for that last part of the process. However, I am like 90% sure that most schools in Houston only initially ask for a + immunity via titers. If you have that, you should be good. I know it takes a while to show immunity after receiving a booster or series.

That being said, I would call TWU or email one of the advisors and ask them to be sure.

Thank you so much. It gets so confusing with all of the varying requirements! And then if I do the accelerated vaccine, will I not be able to complete the requirements for other schools if they do not accept that method? I cannot wait for this part of the process to be done! Thank you again.

Oh man I hate to say this lol but it only gets more complicated from here! Lol once accepted, you have to submit pretty much titers for all of your vaccinations or proof of having had got them in a certain number of years past. Then you also have to submit proof of health insurance, FBI backgroung clearance through the BON, and BLS certification, etc etc.

But once you got everything down, you don't really have to worry about it until right before the next semester. They ask that you update everything and make sure that you are still current.

But it'll all be worth it!
