Are there any applicants out there planning on attending TWU in the spring? My application is in and I am a nervous wreck. I'm not worried about getting in, but freaking out about the first semester. Pathophysiology AND Pharmacology seem like two very time-consuming classes to take in addition to three nursing classes. Although I have good study habits, this makes me a little nervous. Does anyone have words of encouragement/discouragment???
susan and shannon,i've added you both to my buddy list, if y'all don't mind. i will be starting twu in the fall of 2005 and i would love to hear how your first semesters went. mind you, i say "will be" attending twu because i'm trying to be optimistic that my gpa will get me in :)
good luck and i'll be thinking of you both!
you are also added.
Are you taking your pre-reqs at TWU??
I went last summer to talk to an advisor and she told me that it wouldnt make a difference if I finished my pre-reqs at TWU or not, so I just continued at UNT, but now Ive been hearing that people who have done 30+ hours at TWU are getting 0.2 pts added to their GPA. I would have been eligible for that and now Im constantly stressed about what Ill do next semester if I dont get in. (with my GPA, that 0.2 would have made me a shoe-in, but now Im right on the border with a 3.7...ARGH!)
Ok guys,
I will answer your questions about TWU. I am in the middle of my Junior I semester there. I took Patho over the summer to lighten my load. It was a very hard and time consuming class. I feel sorry for my classmates that are taking it now on top of our other course load. Pharmacology is the hardest class I have this semester. There are people that leave after the tests in tears. The key is to study it every week and not wait until right before a test. You can do it. The first semester is all about transition. The tests are application based like the NCLEX and is so different from knowledge based tests. For all of you straight A people (like myself), get used to getting B's. We say - in Nursing B is the new A.
Good luck and feel free to e-mail me any other questions you may have!

The number of professors, clinical professors (State regs say only 10 clinical students per clinical instructor) and the size of the classrooms and the size and availability of lab facilities available to hold them all are the basic restraints on the number of students they can have. Nursing professors aren't easy to come by - Universities don't pay anything like the clinical world.
I have come to the conclusion that it depends entirely on what cycle the moon is in as to what they count in your GPA - if they teach a class at any TWU campus that is similar to one you have taken, it is counted even if it doesn't apply to your degree. However - they transferred and included in my GPA a religion course I couldn't believe they transferred because I found no similar course at TWU!!!!

Wow so that religion class boosted up your gpa. I called in and asked if "college algebra" can be counted as an elective class and Yep it can be. I read somewhere that the elective classes dont count with the overall GPA. Thats why I was freaked out bc that college alg. is going to give my GPA a boost. Again thank you :uhoh21:
Actually - it hurt me severely LOL It was a 7 am class from a lonnnnnnnnnnnnng time ago that I rarely showed up for and missed the final - one of those required classes that I never WANTED to take.....
But I should also add that I wasnt applying for their generic program, I was applying as an RN to BSN student so it didn't hurt me THAT bad.
