Are there any applicants out there planning on attending TWU in the spring? My application is in and I am a nervous wreck. I'm not worried about getting in, but freaking out about the first semester. Pathophysiology AND Pharmacology seem like two very time-consuming classes to take in addition to three nursing classes. Although I have good study habits, this makes me a little nervous. Does anyone have words of encouragement/discouragment???

Tell me something ,did you have all your pre classes in before you applied?
Yes, I had everything except my fall classes (Micro, Statistics, and History II) and Women's Studies and Multicultural classes, which I am planning on taking in the summer. How about you????

Hi! I am 6 months behind you (applying for the fall of '05 at TWU-Dallas), but I am having similar thoughts and concerns about the classload, especially the first two semesters.
I have recently talked with someone who graduated from TWU's nursing school and she has given me a lot of inspiration and encouragement that it *can be* done (full-time) with a strong commitment to studying (which you mention you already have) and keeping up, not falling behind. She also says that having a study partner helped her tremendously.
I wish I had words of wisdom (through experience) to help you feel less anxious about those two classes. I'll be going through the same worrying soon enough. I always feel like the challenges give us more strength and confidence in ourselves!
Good luck to you! :)
Thank you much for your response and best of luck getting in for the fall 05.

Okay, it is almost too late to swing this - but your fall schedule looks pretty light.
Have you thought of going to UTA and picking up either Pharm or Patho with the Hist 2, Stats, and Micro?
That would certainly lighten your load in the spring!
Also- there are a few correspondence pharm classes available that count at TWU. Check with an advisor before registering for those, though.
Good luck on getting in - I know it is stressful.
TWU is all about the GPA. They have a consistently high NCLEX pass rate, too.
I have everything but comp 2 and my stats and one history. I for some reason thought you had to be done with your prewrecks prior to admission. I guess I just depends on how much everyone else has completed and that darn GPA.

Prewrecks - :chuckle - LOVE it. Appropriate.
I know people who applied to one school that have multiple degrees, and did not get in until after several tries, with very high GPA's. Others who had not finished their 'prewrecks' were admitted before them!
One smart cookie, with a masters' degree contacted the alumni director and informed him about the difficulties that were encountered by false information being dispersed by the advisors at the SON.
Classes mysteriously closed, then opened, then closed... No rhyme nor reason. No logic and no fairness.
The student (a very deserving one) finally got in. So did some of the other multi-degreed students.
Hang in there, be persistent, talk to all the right people, get in front of them, and do not be afraid to sit on their desks if you have to.
That's my 2 cents' worth.
Free advice is always worth what you pay for it.
Apply now. And take those in the fall...
You have to have at least two sciences complete, with a total of 48 hours just to apply, and have all prewrecks completed BEFORE starting the program.

I start the program in 2 weeks. I'm taking all the classes above, plus my multicultural studies req. That adds up to 19 hours of nerve wracking fun. I'll let you know how good/bad it is....if I can still form coherent sentences!

SuBeat,
I hope you don't mind, but I added you to my buddy list. I will contact you at the end of the semester and find out if you are still alive :chair:
Good Luck and may the force be with you!

I don't mind a bit. I think the fact that we can prepare each other is one of the best perks of this board.
