Hello Everyone,
Well I am currently looking to apply to TWU for Spring 2011. I thought it would be nice to start a thread because I am sure we will all need a good support system. The whole application process is so STRESSFUL!
Lets Get It Started!!!
Hello Jodeface!!
Thanks for joining the thread!! I havent decided when to take the TEAS either. The last time I checked the dates were not posted yet. I called last week and they said they would have them up soon. Good luck this summer!! It looks like you will be busy. I just finished Womens Studies and it was not difficult at all.
Thank you for your replies misshopeful and Soon2bRN1222. I am applying for the Dallas campus and hadn't really thought about applying anywhere else. I live in FW so I'm hoping I can get in a clinical closer to where I live. Do any of you know if any of the clinical sites are to the west of Dallas?
I am taking Micro at TCC in a combination traditional/online course for the first half of the summer. That is, you have to show up for Lab but do the lecture portion online. I have no idea how that is going to work and if it will be harder or easier that way. Has anyone done this?
Then I'm taking A&PII the second half of summer at TWU with the same prof I had this semester for A&PI. She was good and it was easy to make an A with her. I wanted to take all my classes in Denton at TWU but I just couldn't make Micro and A&PII schedule work together. So I won't be getting the bump. I am confident though that I will have As on all the important first attempt classes though...and I"m a pretty good test taker so I hope I do well on the TEAS. If I don't get in...well...don't want to think about that.
I'm a little worried about the schedule being crazy once we finally do get in (I have kids and a husband who tend to need me :) but I'm hoping that taking Patho in the fall will help ease the first semester schedule some. Does anyone know what a sample first semester schedule would look like? I can't wait to meet you guys!
Jodeface...I'm not really sure where TWUs clinical sites are, sorry. I am actually moving to Arlington this summer so I am hoping if I get into TWU I will find a clinical site close to me....the drive to TWU from Arlington is about 30-35 min from where I will be living.
I have never taken an online Science course, but a classmate of mine did and it was through out a whole semester not summer...I know she made an A and she said it was not difficult as long as you keep up with the dates the instructor gives you online. Go to this site Tarrant County College (all) - Texas and see what they say about your online instructor.
I have no idea what the first semester will be like, but hopefully Missmoe27 can keep us updated once she begins the program :) I did go to TWUs website and find the sample plans but that just lets us know the classes we would be taking if we get into the program.

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this site, and I'm so glad I found this thread, it is very helpful. I'm planning to apply for Spring 2011 at the Houston Center-TWU. Because I was granted two scholarships I'll be able to attend TWU this Fall2010 full time, but I must take these classes online at the Denton campus, and one of them is Pathophysiology. Anyone taken, or planning on taking Patho online at Denton campus?..Thank you
@ Jodeface and Misshopeful
I am not sure what the schedule is looking like for Houston as far as the clinicals are concerned, but the Dallas Campus has their lab, lecture, and clinical classes posted. For those that want to have an idea of what a schedule looks like...
NURS 3005 LAB Tues 1-3:50
CLINICAL Wed 8- 2:00
NURS 3614 LAB Mon 2-4:30
CLINICAL Fri 8-12:30
NURS 3813 LECT Tues 9-11:50
BIOL 4344 LECT Mon 8:30-12:20
This is not my schedule, but one that someone in Dallas might have in the Fall.
Welcome Ariess! I will not be taking Patho online this fall, I am planning to attend the lecture. I can not remember if ppl from TWU Spring 2010 thread took it online. I read that thread awhile back and it was very informative about the Patho class. I've read that the teacher gives 20 point curves bc the class avg on the exams are not so high....so that kinda freaked me out!
Thank you missmoe! You're very helpful :) I can not say that enough!
Thank you so much missmoe!!!.. I wish I could have taken the lecture-on campus, but I live in Houston have a very young daughter and..a husband:) so online is a little more convinient for me. And since it cannot be taken at the Houston campus.. only if you are already in the BSN program..So good luck to you!.I'll check out the threads you recommended.I'm in the process of applying at different schools here in Houston. This summer I'm reviewing for the HESI A2 and the TEAS.
Hey, everyone!
I am also applying to TWU-Houston for Spring 2011 admission. Just received the TEAS V review book today and it is very thorough. Will definitely take some studying on my part to be ready for it!
What is the latest we can take that test and still meet the admission deadline? :-)
Hello Everyone!
Well the links are up to register for the TEAS test. I thought I could at least see the schedule for the upcoming exams this summer but I think that you must pay in order to see the testing times. Let me know if you guys find a way around this. I wont be able to pay for the exam until July but I wanted to see when was the lastest I could take the exam. I have alot going on this summer and think it would be best to take the test at the end of the summer.
Have a great week!
Hello Everyone,
Thanks Soon2bRN for starting this thread, it is so nice to talk with others during this process. I am applying for Spring 2011 TWU-Dallas. I live in Austin, but will move to Dallas for a couple of years if accepted. I spoke with an advisor yesterday and he said they accept 120 students to the Dallas program. I didn't ask about Houston, but I imagine it's around the same amount.
I saw a couple of references to Quant Lit in the post, what is the course # for the class. I am planning to take Patho in the fall, probably online since I am in Austin.
I am planning to register for TEAS V sometime next week, I will post the available dates after I register. Since we are the first group using the TEAS V as the entrance exam, they (TWU) has set the bar kind of "low" at 64% with the disclaimer that they have the right to raise the composite score for future classes. I Googled "average score for the TEAS V" and found the average score seems to be 75 - 80%. I ordered the study guide yesterday, I guess I will be studying Chemistry again for a while.
Good luck to all and have a great week!!!

Hi Jodeface! I'm glad you are joining in on the forum for TWU :) Are you applying to Houston or the Dallas campus. Good luck on your summer classes! I also am planning on taking patho this fall.
As far as the TEAS....I think I am going to take it at the end of summer bc I will be taking a few summer classes too. I hope all of us score very well on the exam!
