Trying for Gwinnett Tech Fall 2013

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

So I am trying to get into gwinnett techs fall of 2013 class and i just wanted to start a forum for us to support each other and for info. I still have a couple pre reqs to take but im hoping to do well! Good luck everyone

Congrats to all the incoming juniors! sorry to burst your bubbles regarding the uniform color, but it's still going to be white. You do however have the option of wearing black scrubs to campus on lab days. But to the clinicals, you have to be in all white! The white uniforms are purchased on-line and the tops come wit our school logo embroidered. All the information you need, you'll get in the package from Saadia. If you saw any of GTC nursing students at any of the hospitals wearing other scrubs, it's because they were in observation in the OR.

This is too funny, I was just talking to Ms. R, (the junior class course coordinator) just now regarding the uniform color and she told me that there was no change in the color, but I saw that someone had posted that they went to the Meridy's website and saw blue scrub pants so I went to check it out and sure enough they are indeed blue! I called Ms. R back to let her know. She's cracking up because I guess somebody decided to make that change and forgot to tell anybody else!!!

Aww, does that mean no change? I'm still (im)patiently awaiting that info package from the program. I wish it would hurry up and get here!

Once again: it is a violation of the website Terms of Service (TOS) to post staff/faculty names in the forums. This is your second warning, folks (see https://allnurses.com/georgia-state-nursing/trying-gwinnett-tech-709908-page32.html#post7278970 -- first warning). Please cease, or the thread will be closed. Thanks.

Is there anyone on here that received anything other than A's in their science courses?

I made a B in one of my anatomy courses but I scored high on the Kaplan. Either way, you need to work hard to excel in both areas. Good luck!

I don't know about on here, but I know there have been, because not everybody who gets into the program does so with a 4.0 GPA. Like RN_Diva_2B says, you don't have to be perfect, but strive to excel. All anybody can ask of you is you do your best.

Getting a B or a C does not spoil your chances of getting accepted, and not every straight A student will get accepted. I know students in both of those groups that did (or didn't) get accepted at GTC this year.

I am guessing that a combined score of roughly 175 was necessary for acceptance this year, so even a 3.0 gpa PLUS 85 Kaplan would = 175. Those with a 3.5 gpa needed 80 on Kaplan, and those with 4.0 needed 75.

As told to me by a prominent instructor: "It is a terrible myth that you need 4.0 to get accepted."

This is completely true, I actually had all B's on my sci pre-reqs for this program so I'm guessing they don't weigh Sci pre-req higher than english, math, and psych. Before taking the test, I didn't think I had a shot since I was very rusty in AnP. Luckily, I did well enough on the Kaplan.

This is absolutely true, and I didn't mean to imply with my earlier response that a 4.0 is a necessity. With that said, it still holds true that you want to get the highest GPA you can and the highest Kaplan score you can to make yourself as competitive as possible.

Anyone currently in the program now? Are the classes monday thru friday or it just depends?
