I graduated with a BA in Political Science and I would like to become an R.N. What would be the best program for me to enroll in? I have been reading in different places that an Associates degree isn't the best option to become and R.N. Can anyone let me know whats the best thing for me to do ? Because I'm getting confused on what the best direction for me. :)

i have an RN who works with me and who went back to school after a degree in political science but she did that down south somewhere. But anyways you can pretty much do it at any university, good ones.

I would definitely go straight to BSN if you want a better chance in finding a job afterwards. While in school, I would suggest taking a part-time job at a hospital to gain experience and be exposed to the healthcare field. Maybe like an telemetry monitor tech, nursing assistant, etc. Just my two cents :)

I recommend you to take a part-time job in local hospital where you want to work in the future
and at the same time take the pre-requisite classes in the community college.
Then apply for Accelerated BSN Nursing program since you already have a degree.

Accelerated Programs: The Fast Track to Careers in Nursing
One innovative approach to nursing education that is gaining momentum nationwide is the accelerated degree program for non-nursing graduates. Offered at both the baccalaureate and master's degree levels, these programs build on previous learning experiences and transition individuals with undergraduate degrees in other disciplines into nursing.

The best option for someone with a Bachelors already is an accelerated BSN program. An RN Associates and a BSN takes the exact same amount of time (although Associates is cheaper), and since BSNs are more competitive in the job market, it really makes the most sense to do that IMO. That's what I'm doing.

True dat!
If you already have a four year degree shouldn't bother with an ADN but go for for the ABSN for reasons stated above. Either way you are going to spend about equal amounts of time in nursing school but the difference is at least in NYC you'll come out with a more marketable degree.
Just in case you are wondering, no; a BA or BS in another major plus an ADN does not equal a BSN. If a facility states they want or prefer a four year nursing degree that is just what they mean.
