WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump says he's planning to hold his first rally of the COVID-19 era next Friday in Tulsa, Oklahoma. And he says he's planning more events in Florida, Texas and Arizona as well.

Trump made the announcement during a roundtable with African American supporters Wednesday afternoon that did not appear on his public schedule.

He is visiting states that have greatly increased in COVID cases since Memorial Day.

Quite a history regarding Tulsa, OK. I attended public school in Oklahoma and never learned about this there. We learned about it from our priest.

Please read this. There are lots of interesting and important details.

Tulsa race riot of 1921

Tulsa race riot of 1921, also called Tulsa race massacre of 1921, race riot that began on May 31, 1921, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was one of the most severe incidents of racial violence in U.S. history. Lasting for two days, the riot left somewhere between 30 and 300 people dead, mostly African Americans, and destroyed Tulsa’s prosperous black neighborhood of Greenwood, known as the “black Wall Street.”

More than 1,400 homes and businesses were burned, and nearly 10,000 people were left homeless. Despite its severity and destructiveness, the Tulsa race riot was barely mentioned in history books until the late 1990s, when a state commission was formed to document the incident...

... the official death toll was recorded at 10 whites and 26 African Americans, though many experts now believe at least 300 people were killed. Shortly after the riot there was a brief official inquiry, but documents related to the riot disappeared soon afterward. The event never received widespread attention and was long noticeably absent from the history books used to teach Oklahoma schoolchildren...

Trump picks Tulsa on Juneteenth for return to campaign rallies

... The rally will take place on Juneteenth, the commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.

Tulsa has its own troubling history on race. It's once-thriving African American business community was decimated in 1921, when a racist white mob killed hundreds of black residents. Black residents attempted to rebuild in the decades that followed, only to see their work erased during urban renewal of the 1960s....

President Donald Trump has decided to move his planned Tulsa, Oklahoma rally from June 19 to June 20. The move came after many complained that the rally date came on Juneteenth, an important African American date celebrating the day the last state received news of the Emancipation, thereby effectively ending slavery in the US.

The symbolism of staging a rally on Juneteenth in Tulsa, the scene of one of America’s worst racial violence incidents, also played into the decision.

I voted for Bernie back in February. Wouldn't have thought at the time I was leaning toward Trump in November, but here we are. I do agree with certain left-wing policies (always been pro-choice on abortion, pro-LGBT rights, separation of church and state, and I support universal healthcare).

However, none of that matters if we can't have law and order. If the looting and violence (like burning down Wendy's in Atlanta last night) persists, Trump needs to send in the military to restore order and property rights. He also needs to ensure we have a functioning economy and don't have a Fauci-inspired permanent quarantine. Joe Biden, who ran an abysmal campaign, was engineered into the nomination thanks to Obama and the DNC. I would never vote Biden. But if Biden is now in the pocket of BLM and Antifa (apparently they want him to pick a black woman as quid pro quo for black voters giving him Super Tuesday wins), I'll go for Trump/Pence.

Hang on a second, if you have “always been pro-choice on abortion, pro-LGBT rights, separation of church and state, and I support universal healthcare”, then, ipso facto, you would not vote for trump. Unless of course you are willing to ignore the hard right swing of his judicial nominations, the overturning of legal healthcare protection for transgender folks last week, the blurring of state/church separation and trump’s total non-involvement with healthcare except to try to push things back to pre-aca days.

You want him to have the military crack down on protestors. What’s your plan, station troops in every town in the country, just in case? Might as well just declare martial law.

Explain how trump can ensure “a functioning economy”. Order businesses to open and folks to patronize them? People need money in order to feed the economy. So, what about all those people whose jobs are not coming back? Is there a trump plan to work with congress to help them?

The U.S. military was brought in to stop the long hot Summer 1967. It's now overdue to do the same. If there has to be troops in the major cities nationally so be it.

So, what about all those people whose jobs are not coming back?

Very simple. No more federal unemployment benefits. People can go back to work or they can get evicted and starve.

Sounds a bit like a facist utopia...not at all like a country where the focus of the government is the well being of we the people.

The Oklahoma Supreme Court on Friday rejected a request to require everyone attending President Donald Trump's rally in Tulsa this weekend to wear a face mask and maintain social distancing inside the arena to guard against the spread of the coronavirus.

And now we have to wait 2 weeks to see if any of those 6,200 ? folks who showed up test positive, become symptomatic or infect anyone else. Assuming contact tracing is done on attendees. Although we do know that 6 on location staffers tested positive prior to the event.
