Does anyone have any scoop on why Truman College suddenly, little more than a week before the application deadline, extended it for another month? On their Website there is an announcement that the deadline has been extended until March 1. However, they provide no explanation as to why (or how it will affect the decision process and timeline). I highly doubt they don't have enough applicants unless they are rethinking their entrance guidelines, which wouldn't surprise me, but would also be somewhat shady this late in the game. Just wondering if anyone knows of anything going on, or if it's just a ploy to get a bigger pool of applicants.
It was an email from Dr. Gurney (appropriate, seeing as how she caught my wrath via telephone a few times...teehee). They said a formal letter will be sent to my home. You must confirm via email by next Monday.
Also, it was sent to my gmail account. I thought it would go to my ccc email address, as I don't remember supplying them with my personal account, but it was a while ago.
Ugh, tell me about it. This whole thing is so obnoxious. Whatever's meant to be will be. My faith in this program is pretty much shot. When it comes to CCC, nothing can shock me anymore. I feel like we're all amped up to hear something today, but it won't surprise me if we don't hear so much as crickets.
I'm starting to wonder if I'm offered a spot in the program if I'd even like to accept it. CCC is such a mess, and there's so much drama anytime I try to talk to anyone or get something done. It's always infuriating, and I can't imagine dealing with them for two years and hoping to get a RN licensure out of it.
I've been frustrated by the process also. Lets remember though that we have a small group of folks at CCC district and branch colleges dealing with the hopes and dreams of thousands. I believe they got into the field they are in because they want to make a positive difference, and I'm sure they are doing the best they can.
No matter who is running the program, it will be YOU taking the classes, taking your boards, and finally applying what you learn to the care you eventually give your patients. CCC can make little difference in what kind of nurse you become, that will be up to YOU!
Many of us will end this day happy, many will be disappointed. Those who truly want to be nurses eventually will be nurses, no matter what the folks at CCC decide, no matter if it's thumbs up or down today. What we become depends mainly on what WE do, what WE are.
Congrats, Desiree! That is amazing. :) I was bummed to not get into Truman but so thankful my app was handed off to Daley. Anyone else get into Daley??
As for those still waiting, don't lose hope! There are plenty of people wait-listed to get in later. And even if this isn't your year, there is a TON you can do in the meantime to strengthen yourself for next year, and it will only make you a better nurse in the long run. Keep your heads up!!
I just got my email at 9:20 pm and I got in. I think the emails are just going out a bit slow. Dr Gurney seems to be contacting people individually... that's a lot of emails to send. If you have not heard yet, don't despair, your acceptance may be on it's way.
... and Scigeek, the way they are talking, they are trying to make ALL programs the same. Whether you are placed at Daley, Truman, or Wright is not a decided by your GPA, it's decided by your zip code. Congrats to all who've made it. If you haven't heard, hang in there, it's not over yet!

Congrats Sciencegeek! Very exciting! :) Good for you!!
So, how'd you find out? Was it an email like they're saying? Did it come to your CCC account or a personal account?
