I'm desperate to figure this out. Is there any Truman or Malcolm X students that can tell me how they select students for the nursing program? Is it really true that Truman pick their students solely base on the lottery system? How is the program at Malcolm X? Any info would be helpful...Thanks!!! :bowingpur
Thanks gonnabeanurse11,
Well, on my way out of work, I noticed Erica had left me a voice mail. I called her back and another lady answered. I told her I'm returning Erica call and she asked for my name. I told her my name and ask if she has good or bad new for me. Well, that was good new because she said they sent out a letter for me and it came back to them. I was told that I have till tomorrow to reply and sign the "intent to participate " letter. I was so happy and excited I went to Truman right away without hesitation and signed it right there just to be safe.
I had selected the evening orientation which is 5/27/09. What about you?
Ha! I did the same thing, I went straight to Truman and signed the paper to make sure they would get it! I am going to the May 27th orientation at 8am. I wanted to go to the first one so that I could have my first choice of instructor because we are registering that day. I wish I knew someone who has gone through the program so that I could hear all about it!!!
:yawn:I just had the time to search Truman Nursing School Program and their are a lot more things I was not aware of. 1)THEY DO HAVE A LOTTERY.2)It could take up to at least 2 yrs to enter there Nursing Program.3)They have a few more course Malcolm X and Kennedy King College. So, I have decided to keep with Kennedy King School or Chamberlain College(school not far from my house) Good Luck to you.

Just to clarify Truman does not take 2 years to get into as they have no waiting list at all, you have to reapply each year. The prerequisites for Truman are actually exactly the same as all of the other city colleges, they are actually the only ones that didnt require me to submit recommendation letters and other supporting documents. They do not require anything that Malcolm x doesnt, and Kennedy King in only an LPN program or bridge(i think) i know they do not have an RN program like Truman or Malcolm X or Daley. I just got accepted into Truman and applied at all of the city colleges. I was going to go to Chamberlain but decided that it was a huge rip off with 9 semesters at about $10,000 each.
Finally, I got a call from Truman's nursing dept today. I was told that I got accepted to their nursing program starting this Fall. I was so excited and happy, I called my BF and he took me out for dinner to celebrate. Thanks God!
congrats! i received my letter too! now we gootta find out who are good teachers to take for nursing 101

Ok, I was told this by one of my professors, I go to wright now taking anatomy 227 and micro. I just saw a posting in the hallway today saying that they have an RN bridge program at the Humboldt park campus. I thought it was going to be a regular RN program like truman and Im not sure if they are going to do that next year but the LPN to RN bridge has started already! You have to be an LPN obviously, and have taken 226 and 227. It looks like they are accepting applications now for two sessions per year, each accepting 30 students for a 9 month program, which is awesome. I am almost positive they are going to have a program for an ADN soon, as my chemistry professor told me it was approved.
