Truman or malcolm X

Published

I'm desperate to figure this out. Is there any Truman or Malcolm X students that can tell me how they select students for the nursing program? Is it really true that Truman pick their students solely base on the lottery system? How is the program at Malcolm X? Any info would be helpful...Thanks!!! :bowingpur

I got my acceptance letter today too! I am so excited, I really didnt think Id get into Truman with the lottery and all! So exciting...:yeah:
oc

congrats!!!!! remember to study and forget your previous life because nursing is your life for the next two years. seriously congrats but now is the time to concentrate and choose studying before going out. if you can choose your instructors try to get worms and zimmerman, they may be difficult but they help you prepare for nclex from day one, and worms is hilarious.

I'm bummed.. I still didn't get a letter and really don't think I am going to

They sent them out last tuesday and tomorrow will be a week

Ugh this sucks... They are mailing out the denied letters in two weeks

:crying2: I didn't get mine acceptance letter either. I'm trying to hold back my tears and be strong, but this is the second time I applied. I don't know what I should do now.

Random 15 and rritual, when is your acceptance postmarked on the envelope? What is your GPA like (if you don't mind)? Is this the first year you applied?

Yeah I am also curious about the GPA

Well I usually talk to Erica (she always knows what shes talking about) and I called and she let me know letters were sent out tuesday

but I went in and there was a different woman there and she said they are still being mailed out..

but we'll see

Good luck nursewannabe =) hope we get in

If not what are your plans?

I received my letter Wednesday and I live in the city so them being mailed out Tuesday is probably correct. This is the first year I applied, I just realized I wanted to be a nurse about a year ago and started taking pre-reqs. My gpa was only 3.1 and I got a 95 on the compass exam. I did get an A in all of the three classes you have to write down on the application, Chemistry, Bio 121 and Algebra. I applied at Daley and malcolm x incase I didnt get into Truman but havent got anything from them yet.

Did you apply anywhere else??

See that's where I messed up

I got a C in both Chemistry&Bio but retook them and got a B

and my first try I got a B in math and a 90% on the Compass

Congrats on getting in though

and I also live in chicago.. right down WILSON! so I should have got one.. I guess I'll try and stay positive until the end of the week

I didn't want to apply at those others school since they are on the southside and feared the neighborhood but I heard truman has the worst neighborhood compared to other CCC colleges

I regret not applying to the colleges on the southside

Malcolm X is not on the south side it is down the street from my house, near downtown, it is kinda ghetto though. Daley is on the southside but it is not in a bad area at all and it is a very nice school on the inside, nicer then truman. And the program there is accredited, it is the only other city college that is accredited besides truman. Wright just got approved for a RN program but it doesnt start till 2010. Im sorry you havent received a letter yet. Good Luck and I hope that you do get one.

I'm kind of sad and disappointed at the same time . I retook couple of the pre-reqs and got all As (Chem, Bio and Statistic) because they expired after being more than 5 years from (C in Bio 121 and B in Chem). I finished taking Bio 226 and 227. This semester is for my last general courses, Microbiology and I'm done. I worked very hard for those grades with a FT job. It just breaks my heart to accept the fact I did not get accepted again.

Well you do not know yet!

I told my grandma and she said just stay positive until you actually get a denied letter

I get so frustrated and wish there were more seats+teachers

As for back up plan, I don't really have one. I'm still waiting for Malcolm X, but Truman is my first choice. I probably have to look into applying at the suburb nursing schools and LPN program as well. I'm trying to stay positive. Hopefully, I will get in one day. Other than that, I will continue with my FT job as a CNA at a hospital's clinic so I can gain more experiences and to help me prepares for nursing school. Trust me, what you learned from school will not completely prepares you for job in the real world. Good luck to everybody who applied for nursing school.

Are you serious about Wright! Do you have any other info on their program? Is it starting in the beginning or the end of next yr? When are they going to start accepting applications? Will it be at the main campus or the hpvec site? What are the requirements? Sorry I'm asking so many questions, but this is the first I've heard of it and I'm just really curious.

As far as your science courses did they tell you to take them over or did you just take them over on your own?
