I'm desperate to figure this out. Is there any Truman or Malcolm X students that can tell me how they select students for the nursing program? Is it really true that Truman pick their students solely base on the lottery system? How is the program at Malcolm X? Any info would be helpful...Thanks!!! :bowingpur

I have heard a lot about Malcolm X , however during the last year there program has decline. Truman is also one of the school I have apply to . Their program is WONDERFUL... Kennedy King College is also a good school
:yawn:I just had the time to search Truman Nursing School Program and their are a lot more things I was not aware of. 1)THEY DO HAVE A LOTTERY.2)It could take up to at least 2 yrs to enter there Nursing Program.3)They have a few more course Malcolm X and Kennedy King College.
So, I have decided to keep with Kennedy King School or Chamberlain College(school not far from my house) Good Luck to you.

Truman is a wonderful school for nursing. Yes they do have a lottery and they will enforce you to understand that you should not have a job while in the nursing program. To make life simple complete all of your pre-reqs prior to entering the program. If you do not get in truman then atleast you would have taken all of your pre-reqs for another school. Pay attention to the requirements as many will change.

I am a Truman graduate, they say there is a lottery; however if your GPA is 3.5 or higher, you took most of your pre-req., and passed the Truman reading test with a 100% thay may take you right away. That is what we all have learned during one of our psych classes. Nobody ever told us about it.
magdi when did you graduated from Truman? what is your advance for new nursing student? who is your favorite nursing instructors for lecture and clinical? Any comments or advices would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!
I graduated in 2008. The advice, don't give up, don't get discouraged.
as far as favorite instructors for lecture the Oscar goes to Mrs. Polly Zimmermann, and Mrs. Corbet. Clinical instructor the best for me was Mrs. Cora Johnson. If you get to have Miss Allen, don't get scared, she is cool. just study, know your stuff, forget your friends, and familly for the next two years- but it's worth it. truman had 100% passing on state board test. Good luck :)

truman is the best ADN program in the city. the teachers are great instructors; especially worms and zimmerman, they are the med surg teachers. and yes they have a lottery but that is just because there are so many students applying with the same credentials. all 2008 grads that took nclex that i knew passed easily. best thing to do is have all prereqs done and other requirements and apply to all colleges.
