tropical vacations

Can anyone give me some tips on choosing a good place for a vacation? I have never been to Cancun, Bahamas, etc. My hubby has and liked Cancun but I would like some more suggestions. Just want somewhere WARM! with a cool beach and neat things to see. Just to relax. Any--like most we are on a budget. Any suggestions from anyone who has stayed at a great place! Thanks!!

Usually for around 700-800 pp you can get a package to Bangkok or some of the other spots over here including planefare. Have any of you ever used http://www.skyauction.com? Have used them many times to go all over the world from the US.

I've used skyauction for most of my tickets, it's unnerving and sometimes you have to check the fee's but most of the time it's great!

DH and I are taking our 1st vacation without children in March...going to Cozumel...staying at an all-inclusive hotel...we got a Apple Vacations package....

Went to St Thomas, St Maarten on cruise #1, cruise #2 to Bahamas. Loved both of them. Will be going back to St. Thomas in July with sister and her family - can't wait!!!! Its off season and is cheaper then. Gonna rent a villa for the 9 of us and drink little umbrella drinks on the beach...oh oh - gotta go to bed in prep for work tonight (darn it)

Venezuela...that was awful...Puerto La Cruz...it was terrible from the accomodations to the people. Very unfriendly. Never go to South America. Dirty...had nightmares and lots of bugs....

Cancun...AWESOME...we stayed at the palace and at that time you could go to all 4 (sun, moon, beach, and cancun). Very commercialized. The beach strip is narrow but beautiful from all the hurricanes eroding it away. Lots to do with respect to night clubs, etc...It reminds me a bit of Vegas Strip with resort after resort. Very clean. No bugs.

Jamaica...OCHO RIOS...had a GREAT time. People were friendly and awesome. Lots of history and culture. Beach was beautiful and the resort Beaches Grande Sport (formerly Ciboney) was nothing but AMAZING. Beautifully kept.

Another word of advice, is deal with a travel agent/group that is knowledgeable and trustworthy. Research where and what you want to do. Check out others web reviews, etc...

Let us know where your going and keep us posted on your return.

Bon Voyage!
