Hello all!

Just wanted to create this little blog to see who else was going to be interviewing at Tristar for their New Grad Nurse Residency program for Summer 2020. I have interviews on Feb. 27th and 28th at Centennial and StoneCrest, respectively. I am pretty excited, but also nervous. I have never participated in a group interview process before.

Hello! I am interviewing at Skyline and Centennial on March 12. I'm also nervous and excited! What do you mean by group interview? Like with other candidates? I understood it was a panel interview (with multiple staff members interviewing you). ?

Also, when you applied did you pick your preferences? I can't remember doing that but I applied a while ago so maybe I just forgot about it. haha

I did pick preferences! For both specialties and hospitals. I got interview offers for all three of my hospital picks, but one of them was only offering MedSurg and Ortho, and I want NICU, L&D, or CC.

I read on a post here from 2018 that Centennial interviews multiple applicants/candidates at a time. I do not know if it has changed any, but it sounds like we will be in a small group of other candidates and rotate through the tour, leaders, and peers on interview day.

I had to go back to my application but yes it turns out I did pick preferences. Nursing school is taking a toll on my brain! ? How do you know what units they are interviewing for? I asked when I was initially offered the interview and they didn't say anything except that my top three tracks will be considered. I chose NICU, ICU, and ER.

I was reading the 2018 forum as well and I'm getting a bit nervous. It looked like several people were offered med sure jobs even though it wasn't one of their listed preferences.

I noticed that, as well.

My invitation from Centennial didn't list the units they were interviewing for, but the two other hospitals did. Hopefully we get to interview for our top picks at Centennial.

You'll have to tell me about your interview when you go! Good luck! If I find out any more info, I'll post it here.

From what I've been told, they don't really tell you. You just interview and then they'll take your preferences into consideration if they want you. But someone told me they had received an offer for a unit they didn't even apply to because the manager liked them. One of the three hospitals I'm interviewing for listed the units they were hiring for, the other two didn't even say which units were open.

I have interviews on the 27th and 28th also at Centennial, Summit, and Skyline.

Does anyone know how many people they usually interview for these spots?

Oh, cool! Then I am sure we will see each other on the 27th! One of my classmates also has an interview on the 27th with us.

I am not aware how many people interview for the available positions. It sounded as though there would be roughly 20 applicants interviewed per day, but I am not sure how accurate that is.

Are you wearing your school scrubs? I'm not sure my school would even allow that, so I'm probably just going to wear plain scrubs.

Oh, no. Our school scrubs are hunter green. Not a fan. haha I purchased some plain, royal blue scrubs. I am from Florida, and a majority of hospitals here required nurses to wear royal blue. So, I figure if I don't get an offer for the NICU up there, then I will at least have the right color scrubs for down here! haha
