TCRN - Trauma Certified Registered Nurse

How is everyone planning to study for this? Any recommendations on study material?

Those that have taken the TCRN exam, what do you feel is the best way to study? Review TNCC, ATLS, attend a Jeff Solehiem class, etc..

I used...

TNCC, CATN, and "Trauma Nursing: From Resuscitation Through Rehabilitation," 4th ed., by McQuillan et al.

Trying to figure out the best way to study for this. Can anyone give more info of what the test was like? I am a trauma icu nurse. I have my tncc and Ccrn.

Thanks

Money pit bogus certifications. Don't do it unless your hospitals coerce you into it. They line the pockets of opportunists who can't or don't want to take care of patients on the one hand and seduce hospitals into the delusion that their nurses and care are better because of them on the other.

Want to be great at trauma? Critical care? Buy a good text book and read it. Subscribe to emergency and trauma journals. Go to trauma, CC, and emergency meetings annually. Keep your money for vacations and nice dinners.

Let the sheisters work for a living.

For those of you who have taken the exam, how would you rate it? Difficult? In comparison to CCRN? I also heard that it's great to take TCAR for studying material. I have taken TCAR, TNCC, and CCRN... So I'm thinking of taking the TCRN. :)

I don't have the CCRN, but I do have the CEN and CPEN. I thought this was a little easier because it is trauma-focused and not very broad, though it does cover the entire trauma continuum as advertised. Honestly I didn't study like I wanted to, but I have a lot of trauma experience anyway. I would review TNCC and then also look at professional issues. I felt that the exam was very true to the outline.

Hi I just took the exam and passed!

I took the Jeff Solheim TCRN class through MEDED and thought it was fantastic.

I also bought a TNCC book and read it cover to cover. I bought a book called NURSE TO NURSE TRAUMA CARE and also read it cover to cover (easy to read and well written). I also downloaded the SCRIBD app and searched ATLS and TNCC and had instant access to power points used in the classes, notes from previous students, and I even read the ATLS eight edition cover to cover.

There are so many possible versions of the exam that what was on anyone else's might not be on yours, even if we were allowed to share test content. But the STN review materials cover cranial nerves, so probably worth a review! :) Good luck!!!
