transcripts?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

hi everyone!

I'm from the UK so i'm fairly new to the education system in America. I've tired getting some information from some places in New York where I would like to study. I have finished high school here in the UK and I will be 18 in may. One thing the colleges in America have asked me provide, are transcripts from previous education i'm guessing high school. Do you know anything about them and what they consist of? Is it just things like references from teachers and exam certificates? Also what are pre-reqs? How do you know which ones to do and where to do it?

Any advice would be greatful!

Thanks in advance!

Here a transcrpt is your entire highschool courses and marks (final) on a sheet of paper. No actual exam marks...just final marks. I never heard of references from teachers being required but then again I'm in Canada and it may be different in the USA. In order to figure out the prereqs just look at your nsg school program and they'll tell you. Good luck! :)

Here in the USA transcripts do not have teacher references on them, either.

stg786, A transcript is an official copy of your final grades for every class you've taken at that insitution (whether high school or college). They are delivered to the student or to the requesting college in a sealed envelope, not to be opened by the student, only to be opened by the requesting college. Most colleges you apply to will want an official transcript from your high school if you have not had any prior college coursework.

The transcript is the same thing that you would use if you were applying to the University in the UK. Pre-reqs are required classes that need to be completed before you will be accepted into the nursing program. You may get entrnace to the university or clooege, but then will need to complete a certain number of required classes and then apply to the nursing school.

The pre-reqs are required to be done at the college or university level. You would do them when you first begin your overseas schooling.

thanks everyone im really greatful for your help! in england we only get our final grades on a certificate with the name/date of the course and the grade next to it. then we put it in our record of acheivements folder and present it to who ever wants to see it. At least i can get them from my school here before i go to USA.

Also thanks for the pre-req advice. i guess i dont have to worry about them just yet until i move over.

Hi there,

I read your post, I too am from London, England. The problem I ran into when I applied to college was that they needed to see a high school diploma. I moved here many years ago, and had difficulty locating my records. Thank god my mom had a copy and they accepted it. So make sure you have that when you apply. Transcripts are as others have posted to do with what grades you received in any given course. Most colleges will have you take an entrance test in maths, science and english anyway......

Best wishes to you :)
