hi everyone, i live here in england and for the last few days i have been under so much pressure on where to study. I didnt get excepted to the universities here as it is such a fight to just get an interview. i think it was 500 aplicants for 42 places! so i thought i would just move out to NY so i can be closer to my partner. the thing is thou i dont know NY at all! i could do the bsn route it maybe be quicker (4 years) but its sooo expensive! or i could do it in chunks be a CNA to get some experiance in the field and in a different country. then become a LPN and then after that do a program which will make me a RN and end up with a degree (around 6-8 years). atleast i wont be in so much debt. i dont know which one sounds harder? has anybody experienced any of these two routes? which way is more rewarding? People in england have told me to do my degree here in the UK. But many nurses in the UK who go to America end up doing a LPN program and building up again. Does anybody think im rushing in to it and should stay in England and get a degree then move to America.that will take about 5 years any way. 3 years for the degree and atleast 1-2 years experience in a field before i move. Does anbody know if the BSN from England is recognised in America? Im sure you have to do tests and stuff to qualify and meet with the states care standards. I also remember a nurse in America saying if your going to be moving straight away and be practicing in America im better off getting my education in the USA. makes sense right? or have i been miss informed? any advice would be grateful! im so blessed i have found this website.

Hello everyone! My name is Tehmeena Gilani, I live in the UK and in August will be getting married to my fiancé who lives in Staten Island, NY. At the present moment I am doing a health and social care course at college. Which will finish in June. I thought about applying to be a nurse in England but if I will be getting married and moving to NY I would like to pursue my career as a nurse over there. If I move to New York next year what will I expect during the admissions process? These are the questions jumbling around in my head. It would be great if you could help me answer them. After getting married and moving to NY. Once I become a citizen is it possible to start up my education again there and apply for a BS in Nursing? People do, do it right? After becoming a Citizen do I have to wait a number of months before I can apply? What would the average cost be to study? What do you think my chances are of applying to colleges and getting a response? I would really be grateful for any advice. I dont want to jump in blindly! Any information would be really helpful. Thank you.
