Training center for BLS and IVT

Hello!

I am a RN from the Philippines. I am planning to work here in Philippines before I migrate to Vegas.

Is is true that Operation Smile Philippines is the only organization in the Philippines authorized by the American Heart Association to offer classes in Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support or Pediatric Advance Life Support in the Philippines?

What about the Philippine National Red Cross?

I also searched the internet and found the website of American Safety & Health Institute... They have training centers in the Philippines.

Is it best for me to attend these centers rather than attend the trainings offered by the PNRC?

Can anyone tell me how much are the trainings in PNRC? Thanks!!!

Please help.

Specializes in EENT, MS, Aged Care.

At PNRC, the training worth 1,600 pesos, that is for BLS and SFA. But I suggest to take BLS only so that the processing of the license will take a short time. The price for that is less than a thousand.

Contact the American Heart Association in the US with your questions. That's the best place to obtain your answers. You might also want to contact a local chapter there in Nevada since that's your destination. Good Luck

yehs14: were you able to find out the answer to your questions? i'd like to know too, am interested in bls and ivt training.

you can have BLS and IVT training on hospitals that offer them...in Cebu, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center offer these.....but i'm not sure if it is accredited in other countries......

I think that's the best way to really know if a training center is really allowed by AHA to conduct trainings here. In reality, there are many training centers here claiming that their courses are AHA accredited even though they are not. If you're destination or employer doesn't require your training to be AHA accredited, then having your BLS at PNRC is all right,as well as that with local training centers accredited by Philippine Heart Association. But as far as I know, the training offered by PNRC is valid only for a year while that with Philippine Heart Association is valid for 2 years because I also used to have my BLS renewed by PNRC almost yearly since 2005 but now my latest BLS certification is with PHA as well as my ACLS which is also valid for 2 years.

PNA's BLS is accredited by ASHI. They have this leaflet with ASHI stated there. Just check it out.

Specializes in Renal,Rehab,Oncology,Emergency.

Most Trainings may it be BLS, IVT, ACLS and so forth and so on are not accredited outside our country even if the training center tells you that they are. They simply add to your own advantage since you get more competent in your profession and also it would look nice in your resume that you have had attended such trainings. Once you are employed abroad, I guess you will still be further trained to suit their standards, not unless you already have your trainings and license there, then you wont get retrained.

Where could we train for BLS with the use of a defibrillator? Does the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) program include it? Programs from other "AHA accredited" institutions are way expensive compared to PHC...

Defibrillator is already part of ACLS

@ hazyblue:

Try CCNAPI @ 8F Medical Arts Bldg, Philippine Heart Center.

They offer BLS, ACLS, and so much more.

I have undergone their trainings last week, and their BLS Training comes with the AED.

You get to experience hands-on with a real AED.

It's fun but a little toxic at the end of the day.

Hope it helped.
