Torrance Memorial New Grad Feb. 2014

Nurses Career Support

Published

Hello All!

I wanted to start a new thread for the Torrance Memorial Medical Center New Grad RN Versant Program that is to begin in February of 2014. Good luck to all who applied! Lets keep each other posted if we hear anything.

Thank you, ryan07 and TooProudToMention! I don't remember being asked for a unit preference in the application. I think they ask you that during the interview. My interview is on Friday. I'll let you know if I find out more information. :)

Congrats, ADEcstatic! Don't forget to let me know too

Thank you ADEcstatic, any information you can give us regarding the interview would be very helpful.

Good luck!

ASEcstatic how was it today on your interview? Hope all is well.

I think it went well. There were a few questions where I was like, uhhhh...so I'm hoping the rest makes up for it. Haha. Interview starts with the med math test (super easy, don't even need to know unit conversations), then interview with nurse recruiter, and lastly, panel interview with the program coordinator and several unit managers (usually a total of 4-5 interviewers). They're interviewing 40 candidates for 12 positions. They're interviewing a few next week, but I don't know if they've already called all the candidates they want. They said to not to expect a decision until sometime after the new year.

My interview went pretty much exactly the same as ADEcstatic. They told me the same time frame and amount of people being interviewed.

Thanks for the info ADEcstatic and cubanrob. Did they ask you in what specific unit you would like to work or did they just tell you for what unit they are considering you?

Are there going to be another round of interviews or are they making a decision only based upon this interview?

Was there a lot of situational questions???

Thank you so much

I'm not sure if they're having any more interviews. A friend had her first interview yesterday and both of us had our second interview today. Someone else I know has his second interview tomorrow. I think this time it's unit specific. From what I heard, they're hiring 5 med/surg, 5 critical care, & 2 ED.

Also had a second interview today. I'm assuming that's a good thing. Wasn't expecting to hear back so soon. Any idea when they will let us know who was chosen?

Hi ADEcstatic,

What you say is really interesting. I was told in the beginning of my interview (I only had one) that I would hear back in Jan 2014. Did you and your friend select med/surg or ED as your first choice?

mom2doubles, what unit did you select as your first choice? Again, I interviewed once and was told that I would only hear back in Jan...so I'm not sure what to make of the situation. Any insight?

In the first interview I said ER then med-surg. For the second interview I told them I would go anywhere. No clue what to make if your situation because I was also initially told that decisions would be made in Jan.
