Nursing Students NCLEX

Hello every one I have taken my test 3 times and have been unsuccessful. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. 1st time 85 and I did not no anything on this test 2 time 161 and third time 160 I just don't know where to start. Can anyone give me tips?

What were your study materials from the 1st to third tries?

1st time I did content. 2nd time I bought the nclex mastery app and exam cram questions and did mostly question making flash cards based off rationale and I did the same thing the third time around since I was so close to reaching 205.

I had a virtual teacher through ATI Testing i did the practice for 3 weeks then took the exam, try and see if you can purchase this if you can. Its all about understanding the question and what is being asked. During your exam what information did they keep giving you questions about ? Bc this is sometimes an indicator that you dont understand that topic

ATI was extremely difficult and taking the NCLEX seemed like a piece of cake compared to using ATI but it worked.

Also when your doing practice questions make sure you always read the rationale this helps out a lot

I will be taking my exam in 3 weeks and i am just doing a lot of practice questions from here to there. Mostly free online stuff. I just bought two books the saunders and the prioritization book.

Did u already take the exam? Do u mind sharing what study materials u used for SATAs? Thanks

I took the nclex pn for the 3rd time today. My time expired at 165, i think. I can't believe it took me whole 5 hours. I don't remember now that my anxiety have always gotten the best of me during exams. I'm scared and i don't want to feel this disappointment ever again. I don't even wanna try to find out whether i passed or failed. For some reason, i just don't have a good feeling about this right now. But anyway, i had a lot of sata and prioritized questions. Few meds, only one dosage question, few diseases and some are repetitive questions. What is that mean?

Yes I already took my exam passed on the first try. I studied only for 3 1/2 weeks prior. ATI is mainly the only thing i used to study for the exam, there was also a CD that i used that came with a book that was very helpful as far as SATA, the book is called Saunders Comprehensive Review it comes with a CD to download and it has an excellent variety of questions and you can specifically choose to study only SATA questions just be sure to read the rationales for anything you get wrong

Hi, I agree, ATI might help. Have you tried NCSBN Learning Extension? What about Saunders?

You need to ask yourself are you having problems with content or strategy?

Do you find yourself struggling to wonder what the question is asking because you don't know what the disease is?

If yes, KNOW YOUR CONTENT. You won't know everything but

Do you find yourself struggling to pick the PRIORITY answer?

If yes, then you need to read on testing-taking strategies! There are so many books on that that utilize Maslow, ABCs, and etc. I recommend Kaplan or Saunders for that.

Do you find yourself blanking out and struggling to think?

If yes, you may have to learn how to calm down your anxieties! There are YouTube videos and books for that as well.

Many of the times, you can look at the answers only on a test and can already pick an answer without looking at the question. If you know your content (like REALLY know it by telling me the signs and symptoms of L-sided Heart Failure RIGHT NOW) then you got it covered. Focus on answering questions using techniques and strategies.

You CAN do this! Study the way you studied in nursing school and amplify it. NCLEX is just any other test and it's not impossible. We've all done and so can you!
