Took NCLEX and some of the questions where too easy..:(

Published

I took NCLEX this past week..I am concerned because some of the questions they gave me were very very easy..I mean I looked at the four questions and I can just find the right one..Does that mean, NCLEX made my level really low? I stopped at 170..:( I was thinking NCLEX made my level very low and it was not the passing mark..:(..I live in California also and there is a 2-4 week wait to for results also to add to my misery..:(

Bala Shark,

It gets really tricky when we try to nail down particular questions as easy or hard. There are many factors that come into play when a tester thinks a question is easy. Some of the possibilities:

- The question might have covered something very similar to a question you reviewed in your NCLEX study materials.

- The question might have asked about an area where you are especially strong.

- Maybe the question was being pretested and did not count toward your exam result at all.

- Maybe the item really was easy (as determined by the performance of the students when the item was being pretested). Even if this is the case, you shouldn't panic. A handful of easy questions does not mean that you failed.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

I felt the same way & I passed. It just did not seem that hard!! I expected it to be much worse....but you know what they say we all get at least half of them wrong! So I guess it was harder than we thought..Good Luck to you....I am hoping to hear you passed!

Dear Balashark!

:nono: stressing about your test okay? I'm writing you since I was JUST that same person last thursday-and it only makes it all worse! Before I wrote the NCLEX i read many threads on what the number of questions means (if you write 75 or 265), difficulty of questions, or whether the person who monitors the test gives you a certain "wink" or smile at the end-obviously indicating that you passed. well, as a THIRD TIME WRITER OF THE NCLEX:( NONE OF THIS IS TRUE!!!!!!! okay? You hear? Don't believe ANY of this nonnense that you will read on this site, becuase a lot of it isn't true. The first time i failed, i wrote 75 questions and my friend wrote 265. I failed=she passed. My questions seemed pretty easy too, so i was devestated that i failed. My second time around was brutal-i wrote 163 questions-and the rest explains itself. MY THIRD time writing, was the worst and the best. It's the test you go through with TONS of hard questions, and then EASY questions (thinking then.......why the hell hasn't this test ended), and then they'll go on to give a bunch of mechanical ventilation questions to REALLY make me lose it...and then with all of that-it took me 5.5 hours to write 265 questions. And you know what? I passed. So really, don't stress-numbers mean nothing. TAKE YOUR TIME and breath during the test. take your required breaks and eat and PB&J sandwhich. Write down all your lab values at the beginning. the moderators at the vue centers know NOTHING about your results. trust me-they're being paid to sit there. and like many other tests that are also given at the same time as the nclex- (i.e. dental exams) THOSE guys get a print out at the end of the day stating whether they have passed or failed. but the nclex doesn't-so just write it and leave. Anyways, the girl beside me wrote 176 questions and i'm sure that she passed too becuase she looked super smart and she did it pretty quick. So there you go. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

BalaShark- one of my friends saw her license on the BRN's website just 5 days after taking the CA NCLEX, so check there after a few days (look for "permanent license verification" link and put in your name. If its not there, try again in a few days.). Also, easy & hard are not what the TEST TAKER thinks, its what has been determined by the statistics based on other test takers. So its not something that an individual will easily be able to categorize. What's easy to you is hard to another...plus, with the fact that 85% pass on first try, the odds are looking very good for you. Best of luck!!

Brandie, my nclex exp was pretty much like yours. I had easy then hard...then easy then hard...i started getting questions that were outof the ordinary, never before seen in nursing school...then a whole bunch of those mechanical ventilations...mrsa's..and priorities and delegations!!! ANyway, I hung in there all through the max # of questions..i thought it was going to stop earlier since i thought i was doing poorly...but i guess it couldn't figure out if i failed or passed so it gave me all the questions... still waiting anxiously of course in CA....

u gave me hope that 265 can pass.

hey Bala Shark!! I saw from a post you made that you passed so I just wanted to congratulate you!! :biggringi :biggringi :monkeydance: Good luck with your new career!

took the exams last 28th of this month.. i really felt worried about it, cuz the questions I got were too far easy.. after 50 minutes, it was over at 75 questions, I was the first one in the room to finish it.. I feel like I did not make it now.. no SATA, no calculations, more of prioritization, patient teaching, meds less than 10.. I felt like it was a give away, as if it just wants me to reach 75 and get the hell out of that room.. heard it'll still take about 4 weeks for the results to show up through snail mail.. well, I just have to accept what the results be.. :o
