Took NCLEX-PN Today-Failed?

I was prepared to not be sure if I passed or not, but I am 99% sure I failed. I am so sick to my stomach. I could narrow it down to 2 answers and then I was stuck every time. But my question to anyone out there is If I got at least 15 (check all that apply questions) out of 85 (minimum) does that mean the test was trying to get me to get one of these right. I have never been good at those and the test just kept giving them to me over and over. I did not get one math question. I was the president of my class, I was awarded the highest GPA of my class 3.954. How could I be so stupid when I got in there to test. Has anyone else felt like this? I already have a job lined up and if I failed it will be gone. UGH!!!!!!!!

While you can't tell anything for certain about your pass/fail result based on the number or type of questions, the repeated check-all-that-apply questions are likely good news. Those are widely thought to be higher-level questions, which is what you want. Good luck as you wait for results. Check out our sticky on this subject if you haven't already:

Ooooo, I hate those check all that apply questions and nearly died when they kept popping up. Hang in there, like Eric said it is very likely that you did just fine. Keep us posted. Jules

I, too, felt 99% sure that I had failed the NCLEX......but the next day my name was posted on the BON website right next to my license number!

The test is set up so that you do miss a lot of questions; as a result, most people walk out of the exam feeling that they have failed. Try to keep yourself busy with fun things for the next couple of days.

I am waiting for results too. I just took it yesturday for the second time. I did take a great review class prior to taking it this time and studied a lot. I too have a nice job lined up. UUf-Dah as we say here in Minnesota. I am going to play Volleyball tonight to blow off some residual NCLEX steam. Good Luck to everyone who is experiencing this anxiety.

I, too, still have that aching, nauseous feeling in the pit of my stomach...I keep reading all these posts thinking that it will make me feel better knowing that there are others out there that feel the same way that I do....however, it doesn't seem to be helping.

As far as the "select all that apply questions" how do you know if they are the higher level questions? Just curious...that gives me some glimmer of hope because I got about four of them...in fact the very last question I got was a select all that apply...number 75, it popped up and I just sighed..."Oh great, I guess I will be taking this test again...what can you do...sit, wait, bite your nails and take yourself out for a movie...

The level of difficulty of a question is assigned after that question is pretested to many students. In fact, there were 15 pretested questions that didn't count toward your score on your own NCLEX. There's really no way for the student to determine a question's level of difficulty.

With that said, check-all-that-apply questions are generally considered to be harder, simply because you have to get all of the pieces of the puzzle, but no extra ones. No partial credit on those things.

you shouldnt feel that way. .. i failed it 4xs but im still going to go and take it next week.. good luck to you and keep yourself bz. i know its the worse devastating moment but hey think great aboutn. its friday nite and i hear party acroos the street and im here answering suanders. good luck to you.. wish me luck.. :nurse:

I simply cannot begin to tell you how bad I too felt when I left the exam (in my case, it was the NCLEX-RN exam)...I wept in my car and went home feeling humiliated. To make matters worse, later in the day, I began to remember almost all of my questions (I got just 75) and kept looking up things, while I awaited my test results, and confirming that I got so many WRONG !! But know what? I PASSED. I wish the whole experience had not been so dejecting, but passing is all that matters. Be reassured by the fact that 85% of all first test takers PASS, and that most of us felt like you did (a few luckier people on this site will say it was a 'breeze' and no big deal, but they are few and far between!). Good luck- I'm sure you did better than you think!!

I am so grateful to everyone that has responded to my post. I am feeling much better. I am still very concerned but I am now better prepared to accept it if I failed. It is nice to know that I would not be alone. I just found this website not to long ago and it has become my lifeline for both being a student and taking the NCLEX. I will continue to stay in touch and encourage all other aspiring nurses that come to this site for peer encouragement. Good luck to all of you that are retaking the exam and congratulations to all that have passed. But I do have one question. Why does the testing website offer 48 hour quick results but if it only falls on business days then I must wait 96 hours that is cruel. It appears I will not find my results until Monday morning. UGH!!!!

I don't think that's corrrect. I think it IS 48 hrs, regardless of the weekend.

You might check back in a little while, although I'm sure I don't have to actually suggest that for you to do so.

Sometimes, 48 hrs is really 50, 51, 52, etc.
