Took NCLEX PN, shut off at 85

Nursing Students NCLEX

I have a question. I took my NCLEX-PN today and my test shut off after the 85th question. Now, everyone in my class that had 85 questions passed...do any of you know anyone that failed with 85 questions? I had a ton of pharm, about 70% of my exam, like 10 select all and plenty of prioritizing.

My theory is this. If I wasnt doing too good at 85, would they keep on going until I got to 205 and if I was still failing at 205 then have a fail?

I am just wondering what is the probability of my failing at 85 questions...Thanks

I tried the trick too and got the pop up. I won't celebrate until I know for sure. I just haven't heard of anyone else having that many questions and still passing. Even though it's possible but still. I already have 2 jobs lined up and am retakig a class that I need an A in for the rn program. I don't want to have to study for both and work. I just feel sick to my stomach.

What is the trick?

same here! shut off @ 85....mostly sata...med questions....and prioritizing.....sooooo nervous...the lady at the testing center told me that 85 is a good indicator of passing.....also i was the first one out...so i have noooo clue! two of my buddies both passed and theirs shut off at 85 as well...so im definitely praying!!!! aahhhhh the wait is painful!!!!!!!:uhoh3:

Good luck jackattack!

I took my NCLEX Saturday morning at 8 am. It shut off at 85 questions and I am starting to really freak out. I thought for sure that my results would be there this morning but when I log in to pearson vue it tells me that my exam results are not available at this time. Do I have to wait until 8 am this morning? I tried to register on pearson vue again and I got the error message...

Sorry to be the downer here but you can DEFINITELY fail at 85. Technically, you could fail at 75. Try the PVT trick if your status saying "delivery successful." If you don't know what it is, look it up on this site - there's HUNDREDS of posts about it here.

Well I definitely didn't fail. I was able to get my quick results at 8 am and I passed! I took the NCLEX-PN and the least amount of questions possible were 85.

I took my Nclex PN yesterday. Mine shut off at 86. I was scared. I am from PN and exactly 24 hrs later I got the news I passed. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would pass on my first try. So happy this is over!!!

Lou73.... im gettin ready to take mines next month. how was the exam

I thought it was kind of hard and kind of easy. It's a lot of common sense. 2 answers that are obviously not the answer and 2 that could be but one word might make it wrong. I studied for 7 days total and passed. I was out of school 6 months. What I studied wasn't even on it. I would review pharm (drug classes), nutrition, and some labs if I had it to do over. Take your time, but don't over think your answer, and reread the question and answers, then decide. Think of what you would do first and go with your first instinct. It works. I don't know how I answered enough right, I think it must have sublimly stuck in my head from lecture. Good Luck!!

Hi Lou73.....Congrats!!!!! I would like to know what material you used to study for boards?

Thank you. I mostly used ATI and my lecture notes but really none of that was even on it. I think it is better to just read over stuff again because the test isn't about memorizing stuff. Its more applying what you know. Common sense mostly. Just know your med classes, and labs, and I had a lot of nutrition questions. I also did the all that apply one by one true or false. It worked. Good luck with your test.
