  1. I can't believe 1.5 years after graduating and still no job. Are you looking everywhere? Lower your standards, if that's what's keeping you unemployed. Don't give up yet. Honestly, if I were you, I'd keep my license current abd consider going back to school for something else before ever letting my license lapse and going for a CNA position!
  2. I know how you feel. At my old job we hired 2 new grads when they were only supposed to hire one. One of the new grads was put on my weekend to work when we had just had someone else move from our weekend because there were too many nurses according to census. Then the boss started to juggle schedules of the regulars from that weekend so as to accommodate another nurse who had decided she wanted to only work weekends. And then (!!!) Mr. Boss Man decided to put the new grad on the morning shift - the same shift me and 2 other nurses had been waiting for for over a year. With all the other problem going on on that unit, from management to patients to coworkers, I had had it! Talk to your boss about your concerns. If they can't bre resolved, then it might just be time for you to move on.
  3. Hey everybody! So here's my issue. I have been a rehab nurse for almost 2 years at a large rehab facility but it was time for a change. I have recently accepted and began my new role as a Tele/ICU nurse at a very small community hospital. But I feel like I'm not nearly as up to speed on medical knowledge as everyone else on that floor. I'm really scared to mess up. Anyone have any advice for me? Any literature you think I could read? Also, as a CC nurse, what do you bring with you to work everyday? I used to bring pens, markers, and my ID. LOL. Pretty basic stuff. I didn't even bother bringing my steth b/c there was always a cheap one on the floor. But here I'm see people bring a pulse ox, and fancy stethoscopes, and light pens.... I should be as prepared as every other Tele/ICU nurse, right?!? Oh, and one more thing: any advice on starting on a new floor? Any advice would be appreciated!
  4. So did you have to go in? I live on one of the main streets in Chicago and they couldn't even get that one cleared! I can't image how the side streets are. I haven't even gone further than a block from my house since Tuesday evening. LOL
  5. I did Kaplan online. It was nice! I liked it so much better than the live classroom setting. Just make sure you're in a quiet place that you can actually concentrate in. Oh, and take notes in a notebook or something.
  6. Just a little hope for you: I failed the first time at 78 questions, passed the second time with 75. If there's hope for me, there's hope for anybody! Just study, stay concentrated, and take it day by day. Take your depression time (I took a few months because I couldn't handle the truth) but then get back on that horse! You just have to realize that you didn't graduate because you're stupid! You graduated because the school you went to thought you were able and prepared to take AND pass the NCLEX! Believe in yourself... Good luck!
  7. Haha... That's true! Oops!
  8. Jeez, this post is scary! I'm sorry to hear about this but I wish you better luck in the future.
  9. Kaplan is 100% guaranteed to pass. So if you didn't pass, you should call Kaplan to either get a refund of your money or ask that they schedule you for another round of classes and 3 more months of their online resources. I did the second option and passed the second time with the help of Kaplan's QBANK.
  10. Make sure you've given yourself enough time to grieve over the failing of your last attempt but THEN go full throttle on studying for the exam. Study as if you have never sat for the NCLEX, start from the bottom up, until you feel you are prepared. You're never going to feel 100% prepared but 80% isn't bad! It all really depends on you. I waited 5 months to the hour to retake my exam... but I was depressed and had a lot of familial things going on. Good luck!!
  11. Good luck, love! I know its stressful but you can do anything that you set your mind to.
  12. Haha... I probably saw you today. =] I was there too. Try the PVT (if you don't know what it is, look up the hundreds of posts on this website). I tried it the first time and it worked - took me to the cc page. This time I'm hoping it works too b/c this time the "good pop up" came up. I'm rooting for you, girl! Us Illi girls gotta stick together! Good luck! =] P.S. Only try the PVT when you're 100% ready to take in good AND bad news. It can go either way at this point and you have to be mentally prepared for that.
  13. I REALLY hope you guys are right! I'm just really fearful that this is a glitch in the system when ATTs become invalid. Please keep your fingers crossed and say some prayers for me because, boy, do I need them!!
