Took NCELX-RN yesterday, graduated a YEAR AGO...

Published

What up, homies? I know, I know, the epitome of ignorance = me! So, I took the NCELXRN yesterday (for the first time, by the way). And when I say I graduated a YEAR ago, it was quite literally a YEAR ago (May 5th, 2010). Why did I wait so long? Well for one, I did the paramedic to RN transition program, so it was only a year long. Then five DAYS after graduation, I was in fire academy and that was approximately six months long. Then, the other six months, I pretty much just ****** away working as a medic on the box because that is my true passion. Time was counting down because I recently accepted a position overseas (12 month contract) and figured I should probably bang that out before I go. I scheduled it so I could study for three weeks. Well one SOLID week I was dead to the world with some sort of flu. I've never had anything knock me out for so long. Then another week my friend from Texas was visiting, and I was preoccupied. The last week I was just "having fun" going to BBQ's, hanging out, going out, etc. Two days before the test, in the afternoon, I call up Pearson Vue and want to reschedule, like a week later maybe. Give me more time to study and all. Well, I paid for it in February, and they only give you three months from when you pay. Long story short, I basically HAD to take it on Wednesday, and that phone call was Monday afternoon at 1400! I ran home and studied. I have a few books I wanted to go through, but didn't have enough time. I mean, a DAY AND A HALF TO STUDY FOR THIS CRAP? I know, I know, I'm completely irresponsible. I made it through one book, was a good review of everything... But, I don't think I did well (I know, big surprise lol). I took it Wednesday and it took me like four and a half hours. I got the full 265. My head was going to explode at the end I wanted to Christmas tree it. You can only be in a room for so long, looking at a computer screen, before your eyes get jacked. The whole ride home my EYES were like killing me. I'm pretty sure it didn't go well. I was always a bright one in class with very little effort, but you all know, this NCLEX is no joke. The masterful combination of my ill preparation, laxadaisical study habits, and out of nursing school for a full YEAR... Yeah, is just not a good thing. Such is life...

I just noticed I jacked up "NCLEX" x 2 in my original post. Oh Jebus...

Goodluck. Have you tried the PVT?

P...V...T...

Peripheral Vascular... Tuberculosis?

EDIT: I'm from Florida, and was trying to pay for the quick results since my state supports that. Does it only work AFTER the 48hrs to pay? I don't get it.

Ha, your post made me laugh. good written. lol. Good luck! If you pass (which i'm sure you will), i'll be entirely jealous due to the fact of little studying involved. I've almost been out a whole year too once July hits! Hopefully i'll pass before then. Already taken it twice and bombed:smackingf. Ahhh life.... such is life. how ravishing.

BelieveAllIsPossible- Did you happen to read my post? I don't think you should be "sure I passed' lol.

It will be 48 hours later today, and then I will call because I can't figure out online how to do it. I looked up the PVT (stands for Pearson Vue Trick for all the non-vets) and I got favorable results. It would not let me register, said I recently registered and crap and while also having "Delivery Successful" on the right. I'm weary of that and will still call, due to my lack of studying (well, it was at least one FULL 12 hour day lol). I got the full 265 though............... I've got a doctor's appointment today and we'll see.

Peace out, homies!

Love your post, too cute....I must say I am jealous though, because it appears in 12 hours of study time YOU PULLED IT OFF !! lol

It's awesome though !!!! CONGRATS TO YOU !!! :smokin:

Graduated: 05/05/10.

Test taken (1st) 05/04/11 (I wanted 05/05 but it was all full, just thought it would be funny)

RN license date 05/05/2011 (Looks like it worked out anyhow)

I ought to post the book that I used, considering I have been out of the transition RN program (not even the full one year, it was approximately 9 months long) for a COMPLETE year and still managed to pass first try. I do have pre-existing knowledge due to current occupation (paramedic) so I don't know if that was related... It was a weird book with the goofiest cover on it. It wasn't anything mainstream like Kaplan or some other crap. I'll do it later tonight. My mom (an RN also lol) said that today was Nurse's Day too.

Yes please let us know the book you used !

That's so awesome !!!

Congrats !!!

:clpty:

O M G I Envy you!!!! lol, but Congratsssss!!!!! the relief is over for you! Please share the book you used! Did you feel like it helped?
