Too soon to leave?

Nurses General Nursing

Is it too soon to leave a job as a new nurse on good terms after 8 months if you give them two weeks notice? My reason for leaving on the application is that I want more clinical experience, as I am going from AL TO SNF

I work on a floor where in the last two years every new nurse hired quit within their first year. I have five months in and recently accepted a position at an ED in a different hospital system. It happens.

It's not too soon. Especially if you land a job you think you will love. Just give your proper notice so you get a good reference ...and I've been in a situation with a bad job where I gave as little notice as possible but I had the new job secured first.

I just wanna get out of there asap because we still have about 40 empty beds and I recently found out I will still be caring for them on my own. Budget may allow me to have a med tech. But that's if I'm lucky. I can't take care of 90 people.. 50 pt is already too much. Just can't do it

The longer I stay the more of a liability it is to my license

Nope. I just left a job after eight months into another specialty. However, I plan on staying PRN at my old job as the PRN rate is worth slightly more than the overtime rate at my new job.

What is the ratio at the SNF?

Around here 20 at most

But average is 8-10

I would do what suits your needs. Seriously. Especially if there are things that are subpar about your employer.

I worked in a completely horrible place for 4 months. I then worked in another place for about 8 months. Both within my first year as a nurse. I've been in my current job for 3+ years...

Off topic but I love your user name haha

I always give 30 days notice. It looks better.

Looking at your other post, I'd say now is a good time more than ever to apply aggressively to other jobs.
