The young lady with the can of Vienna Sausages and saltines! Some of the "food" the kids bring in kills me...
Glad it wasn't bone in sardines in mustard sauce (my husband has a nasty can in the kitchen cabinets right now). Eww.
One day when my son was still in elementary school he decided only babies bring a lunch to school, and cool kids buy their lunches from the cafeteria. After paying an obligatory visit to the can, he went into the kitchen and preceded to make himself a Dagwood style sandwich and eat like he was a starving hyena. I asked him didn't he like what they served for lunch that day in the cafeteria? Without taking a break to breathe, or waste time with words he shook his head "no".
I asked him what was for lunch that day? His response amidst the chewing and lipsmacks - delivered with a totally straight face - was, "Diarrhea sandwiches".
Hmmm … I have to say I missed that particular entree item in my own school days.
Suddenly ham off the bone and swiss roll up's, organic apple juice, organic strawberries dipped in raw sugar, and a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie was no longer for babies.
Oh, yes. My dad ate the deviled ham, the Vyeeenie Weenies, potted meat, Beenie Weenies...all those ickie canned foods. And tons of bologna and Little Debbie cakes. He was a marathon runner and thought his extreme exercise would offset his horrible eating.
Now, at 69 years old and following 2 carotid endarterectomies, he pretty much exists on grilled chicken, salads, and saLmon.

The saLmon thing has been giving me the giggles all morning.
