I'm scheduled to take the nclex on dec 12th. Part of me wants to reschedule it for after christmas. Does one ever feel ready? I don't know if I should take it on the 12th or reschedule it. Any advice?

Does one ever feel ready? I don't know if I should take it on the 12th or reschedule it. Any advice?I believe that studies have shown that the longer one waits to take NCLEX, the less likely one is to pass. I honestly think we had it better back in the olden days when it was offered twice a year, and we had no choice but to show up and take it.
iel21 173 Posts Dec 7, 2007 ei! i feel the same way. but i cannot just keep on delaying it. i planned to take it late nov, then early dec.. then i rescheduled again from dec19 to 21st. it just shows how anxious i am.. but i know everbody feels the same way. it's true that no matter how long and extensive your review is.. you still wouldn't feel prepared. i suggest that if you really feel like you still don't want to take it then don't push it through. but don't delay it too much. it's really much better if things are still fresh on your mind. goodluck!

Dec 7, 2007 What kind of preparation have you been doing?I've been using Saunders doing questions on the computer and also reviewing a couple chapters a day.If I were to reschedule it would only be for a couple weeks later. Like the 26th.I decided to go ahead and reschedule my test for Dec 26. I feel a lot less stressed.

Dec 9, 2007 i'm scheduled to take the nclex on dec 12th. part of me wants to reschedule it for after christmas. does one ever feel ready? i don't know if i should take it on the 12th or reschedule it. any advice?to tell you the truth... you will never be 100% ready for this exam.... it is imposible to know and be an expert at nursing... it's an "entrylevel" nursing exam.if you feel that you want to take it after christmas... then you should do that.i wasnt ready for my test... but i told myself "i studied 3 months, i did kaplan lecture twice, i did all my questions twice, i read the course book twice, i watched the videos, i listened to the feuer cds 3x, i did extra questions from nclex books, i read the kaplan strategies book 3x....... i'm just gonna go. i can't take the studying anymore." and that is what i did, and i told myself that i worked super hard at this, and i deserve it.after i took it, i thought i failed.... but i passed 75q, all the hard work payed off, and i am glad i did it this way, i took my 3 months into my studies, and it didnt make me more comfortable or sure of myself... but it made me feel that i put in a lot of effort and that if i fail it's not like i didn't try studying, and the test was just very hard.the nclex is such a weird test.
Antigone 90 Posts Dec 9, 2007 Just take it. I did after a month of reviewing (20 days total), studied Saunders, and just took it. Got 75 questions, answered for 40 minutes, and came out believing I failed. Result came in really late intensifying my belief...then I got the result yesterday: I passed.

If it were me, I would rescedule for the end of January. Recover from the holidays. And then take two or three weeks and intensively review. Then go for it!

Katchik99 23 Posts Specializes in OBGYN, Post Partum. Dec 11, 2007 Thanks for all the responses. I ended up rescheduling it for Dec. 26. I feel much better about that date, and my ATT doesn't expire until Sept 2008, so I'm good :)
