To all CALIFORNIA NCLEX PASSERS CAUGHT IN THE RETROGRESSION LIMBO!

:nono: Hello my Friends who had passed the NCLEX RN in California but are overseas base,

We are all asked for an SSN, Ok , but how can we gaurantee that with in three years we could supply them with a SSN which we are having a hard time coming to USA due to retrogression? What are the things we should do to speed up our chances in complying them? We all know that if we will not be able to comply the requirements we would be taking the NCLEX again, and its not our fault that we failed to comply, Right?

Can we lobby this to the Board? Just asking them for a consideration while waiting for our priority date to be current. Why is it that other states issued RN #'S while we from California state haven't any?

You will never get a SSN# until you are in the US and with a visa that permits you to work. Actually, most states will not issue you a license without having a SSN#. There are only less than 20% of the states that will do so. And the ones that do, still require a SSN# to endorse.

You do have incorrect information. The NCLEX-RN exam does not need to be rewritten, the results do not expire. The retrogression has never lasted more than three years. Those that have been waiting that long now is because of problems with their agency or attorney, not the US government.

In the worst case scenerio, you just need to send another application to CA BRN. Nothing more.

Boards of Nursing do not make exceptions for the SSN# because you are not in the US. They only keep paperwork and files open for so long.

I'm so sorry that I got the wong info, this is what I inferred from my letter telling me that: IF YOU DONT PROVIDE YOUR SSN TO THE BOARD OF NURSING WITH IN 3 YEARS FROM THE DATE OF THIS LETTER, YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE CONSIDERED ABANDONED AND YOUR FILE WILL BE DESTROYED.

What do this statement mean Madam Suzzanne?

Again, the BRN does not handle the NCLEX exam. If your application is expired, then you just need to complete that process again, you do not need to take the exam again. The passing result will remain valid for you.

This happens many times, it is not unusual. CA actually gives you three years, many states are only two years.

Your question YAJRN is also the same question that has been bugging me today. But thank's Suzanne for clearing it up and now, I'm more relieved than ever! After reaching 265 questions, re-taking the exam is the least likable thing for me!:lol2:

All the studying really payed off... God is good!!!

If your application is expired, then you just need to complete that process again

Ma'am Suzanne, completing the process again would incur expenses(paying the application fee again, having another set of fingerprints, etc...) right?

Your application will no longer be in existance, it needs to be refiled. But do not single CA out because of this, it happens with almost every state. Even those that issue a license, they do not renew it without a SSN#.

Just cross the bridge when we get there...but I do not think I will ever get into that situation and if ever, I will get an Arizona licence instead.

but remember you can not endorse as you haven't got a license to endorse, so will have to go a slightly different route to get the AZ license

There is no link on their website, it is just based on common sense. The NCLEX exam is not even administered by the BRN, or any BON. It is done by a completely separate company, the state is not involved in the scoring of the exam either. They get the results sent to them by Pearson-Vue the same way that you do.

If and when the nurse passes the NCLEX exam for CA they receive a letter stating that they have three years to submit the SSN# to the BRN, and if they do not do it in that time, then their application is no longer valid. No place does it mention about retaking the NCLEX exam, only that the application needs to be refiled.

This is what happens in CA. Simple as that.
